I have been to the restaurant, not the winebar (they have different menus). The restaurant is really outstanding!!! The taste of the food is intense and not like in other restaurants of this category. I got bored from all the 100 little things on the plates of the star restaurants which have all a great taste by itself but somehow... More

First said - we visited the Rutz weinbar, not the Michelin star restaurant in second floor. We ate our last dinner in Berlin at this place. We wanted something informal, but still with an high end when it comes to food and wine. The place presents a gourmet like german menu, and the wine is mainly german. We ate a... More

My Husband and I ate here 2 nights in a row - 1 night at the michelin starred restaurant upstairs and the 2nd night at the more casual wine bar downstairs. Upstairs restaurant: Absolutely fantastic! There are 3 tasting menus to choose from. We chose the 8 course tasting menu and the waiter was very flexible to allow us to... More

Fantastic restaurant. Our waiter was awesome and very attentive. He spent time discussing each of the wines with us which made the experience very enjoyable. The food was magnificent as was the wine. Highly recommend for those who like nice restaurants.

We came across this restaurant and wine bar by accident as we were staying in a hotel nearby. I should all that we ate in the wine bar downstairs, and not in the restaurant. Nonetheless, the menu read very well and the food was excellent. The ingredients are obviously sourced well and the cooking is great, with some fantastic combinations... More

Great food! Awesome wine selection too! They are very passionate in what they do. I had the 8 courses dinner by Marco Muller... Very interesting! Definitely to try, even if only for a glass of good wine, not usual nor commercial.

This is more than a restaurant, it is a total dining experience. Dinner is lengthy and expensive but worth it. Most unusual combinations of foods but each one delicious. Our waiter chose our wine which was also excellent. The staff was great- friendly & attentive without being intrusive. They normally have a fixed menu and I asked for mine to... More

We tried to book a table for the fabled Inspirationsmenu by Marco Muller at the upstairs of Restaurant Rutz (not the downstairs Winebar). They were full but accommodated us very early at 6pm... we felt awkward being the only ones in the restaurant but they noted there were only 8 tables and that the service cycle was very orchestrated and... Consistently good food both in the restaurant and in the wine bar area downstairs. The wine list, needless to say, is extensive and well priced. Slightly off the beaten track but worth tracking down.

We got a 2 person table right in front of the kitchen window on the 1st floor in the gourmet-area. Great spot! Delicious food, good wines.

A michelin star restaurant with Marco Muller one of the best chefs in germany.
From first impressions, our unimposing facade offers little of what lies within. From the moment you step inside, the RUTZ Restaurant opens up like an art gallery delivering a puristic rooms-within-rooms concept, Restaurant and Winebar. Elegant and yet simultaneously harmonious.
The RUTZ Restaurant is located on the first floor. Here you enjoy a modern laid back atmosphere amongst natural materials and an exclusive ambience of high-end hospitality.
Here you will find a perfect combination in every dish of flavor balance and creative inspiration.
Our Head Chef Marco Muller is dedicated to delivering naturally sourced ingredients of only the highest standard and variety. His creative and yet well-balanced cuisine focuses on originality, naturality and aromatics.

A great wine bar with a huge wine list. Our multi-award winning wine list offers over 850 unique bottlings with a primary focus on Riesling and German wines.
On behalf of Michelin Star chef Marco Muller, Head Sommelier, Restaurant Manager and the whole RUTZ Team, we look forward to hosting you soon.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
