31.12.13: Bonito, Alexanderplatz. Berlin Enjoyed a great New Year's Eve meal here - thoroughly recommend the steak in creamy mushroom sauce, it was delicious. Only one waitress working and despite being rushed off her feet, still managed to make us feel very welcome and well looked after, she was fantastic.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Bonito restaurant on Dirckenstrasse 37. The restaurant has both indoor & outdoor seating and indoors, it is open air. The food is excellent: freshly prepared and served hot. Dinner for 2 including 2 glasses of wine, beer, salads and 2 entrees (yum) cost €29.90. Wonderbar !! I am not sure whether they accept reservations... More

Had fast lunch hoping to get something good. But we disappointed. Starters were not finnished yet when entered the main course. We ordered pasta, one aglio e olio and one w spargel. Both pastas were stuffed w green pepperoni in huge quantities so that we couldn't taste the garlic nor spargel. Service eas at normal level, not fast or kind,... More

We visited this restaurant once in the evening. There isn`t any interesting or speial decoration inside. The restaurant looks quite ordinary. There is good variety of pizzas(they are thin, but fit for 2 people). Recommended for an ordinary dinner, but not for a special occassion.

Thank Maria M

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
