Very popular with the neighborhood italians, who come for an espresso and a chat with Lorenzo. He has a beautiful retro Faema machine from the 60s. Fair prices and a nice selection of pastries. Added bonus: hipster-free!

Been there several times with friends, the aperitivo is so much fun. Nice people, gréât food and the spritz is up to Italian standards

I cannot recommend Caffè Monelli. It was still acceptable last year, but not now. The Aperitivo is expensive for what you get: small drinks, low quality food and rude staff. I was there with two colleagues recently, but I will never ever return there again. Avoid it.

Accidentally passed by this lovely cafe, the sweet and coffee there are nice. It's comfortable to sit outside as well.

What to say.. REAL Italian restaurant. Not a Albanian / Croatian "italy-style" restaurant as many other places we've been to. Definitely worth to visit. Just the service is typical Italian :), so you have accept the mentality :)

Simply fantastic. it's actually so hard sitting in a place having a full bodied Italian experience. Wonderful coffee, fabulous cappuccino, never forgetting the homemade "tigelle" with such delicious flavours, all coddle by very nice and smiling people. The place is homely, pastel and delicate with a nice peaceful view to a red-bricks church surrounded by old trees. It's not just... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
