We did not choose the restaurant so we did not know what to expect . Not the fastest service but nonetheless very friendly and the food was great . I am a fussy and plain eater but I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and ambience was perfect . Minor hiccup when paying, their credit card reader rejected my card and I... More

I dined in the restaurant on 4 separate occasions and found the choice of mains to be limited with 6 dishes including one vegetarian. However the meals were innovative and well prepared and quite filling. The Grtilleller Mani Style at 27 euros was the most expensive main, however other dishes were cheaper at 21 to 23 euros. With a glass... More

I been for a dinner with my girlfriend during our holiday in Berlin. The restaurant is beautiful with a modern and minimal design. We sat in the small terrace outside where was quiet and relaxing. All the staff was very friendly and attentive. Regarding the food, was delicious, specially the starters that were apparently simples but rich and tasty. The... More

I am a big fan of the Amano Group since 2 years. I am frequently booking rooms in their hotels (which I can recommend) and also make use of Amano rooftop conference. However, the Mani was a big disappointment and doesn't keep up with the quality of the group. The service was really poor, all starters are flooded in olive... More

Description
The innovative, elegant style of the MANI Restaurant is setting new trends on the Berlin eatery scene. Head chef Octavio Bravo serves up French cuisine, experimenting with Eastern Mediterranean ingredients. The best way of getting to know the menu is to order a mixed selection of starters ('chuzpeles'), placed in the centre of the table like tapas. Appetizers like Calamaretti with quail egg and harissa mayonnaise or cauliflower with salted lemon, garlic butter and almond are peculiar but encourage the desire to discover the culinary range on offer. Dark furniture, restrained lighting, an open kitchen and a fireplace carved in green marble emphasize the elegance of the restaurant. Photographs of the MANI team by Oliver Rath grace the walls. Seating is available outside in the peaceful courtyard, weather permitting, and anyone wanting to watch the denizens of the Torstrasse scene can sit outside on the terrace. The MANI Restaurant celebrated the award of 'Scene restaurant 2012' in September 2012.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
