We enjoyed a variety of the "nibble portions" from the tasting menu, and particularly enjoyed the potato gratin. This was a slightly more posh interior, but at very reasonable prices, and we enjoyed it. The service was good, and if I lived in Berlin and in this neighbourhood, this would be a spot that I would visit often.

German and international food at the campus of one of the biggest language schools in Berlin. The staff was friendly and professional.

We stepped into this restaurant by accident because we had a meeting at the GLS there and we never expected that friendliness, comfort and taste in this corner of Berlin. The staff was very attending and humorous and made good suggestions so that we had a perfect dinner with an excellent wine and "Flammkuchen" -a speciality of this restaurant- but... More

We (a group of seven) really liked the food at Die Schule, but found the portions, particularly on the tapas menu, to be very small. We went there on the recommendation of a tour guide, particularly since he said they had good German "tapas". We really liked the food, and they had good service. But, the tapas portions were really... More

Apt service and great Flammkuchen would suffice, but we also got a VERY tasty pumpkin soup amuse bouche (compliments of the chef) and bread + spreads. So much bang for our bucks! If you have not yet had Flammkuchen (= tarte flambée), I suggest you have it here. Also, I suspect that the weinschorle (spritzer) was made from better wine... More

We came here for a late lunch on the weekend and were able to sit outside. Our server had a good sense of humour and was very efficient. My husband and I shared flammkuchen and german tapas. We got 3 dishes which were small pork knuckle, small schnitzel, and fried potato hashbrowns. Everything was very good particularly the flammkuchen. I... More

We ate here twice and each time thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine. The restaurant is lovely inside, the servers are attentive and friendly, the food has a fine presentation. We highly recommend it.

Ate here as part of a food tour. We had the small baked potatoes with herbal cream cheese, mini meatballs with sauerkraut, slices of beef roulade with red cabbage, small schnitzel with a slice of lemon, potato pancakes with applesauce and flatbread "pizzas" - all were delicious! Add a good german beer and its a great meal!! The service was... More

We both had the lunch special - butterfish with potatoes, celery and other vegetables. It was delicious. The rest of the menu looks interesting, especially the three-course option that's offered in the evening. There is some outside seating.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
