A small, family restaurant with great wine by the glass options and smooth Red beer on-tap. Outstanding fish and pork mains dishes. We dined at FACIL last night but on the Tom Smith 'Value' chart (V=Q / $) Anabela's is better value and very friendly.

Like sitting in someone's intimate dining room - a delight. The menu is small and that has to be good. Just 4 or 5 starters and main courses but gosh they are good. Many dishes have a Portuguese twist and the three of us thoughts that every dish was superb. A long wine list but there was a recommended white... More

Sophisticated cooking - with Portugal in mind. Excellent service. Interesting wines. We did not want a large meal - and Anabela suggested that the chef made three small courses - to surprise us. They were stunning. Light but beautifully conceived.

We went to this restaurant on the basis of the excellent reviews of TA and we were not in the slightest disappointed. The restaurant is relatively simple with an intimate feeling about it. The menu is very limited (almost always a good sign), but the food was excellent. In particular our main courses of lamb and sucking pig were both... More

We were welcomed here with much warmth. The food was nice, modern presentation. Also have a beautiful wine selection at very reasonable prices. All in all top experience, great price - quality ratio.

This is what everyone should understand by creative cooking: excellent products prepared in an original but not fey manner so you come away with a satisfied feeling that a master is at the helm of the kitchen ship. Anabela and her staff are informed and friendly but also discrete, so if you are having that kind of a conversation (for... More

We went after the opera at the Schiller theatre and so walked there for 5 min at 10pm. Worked very well but the restaurant is worth a visit in its own right! The small menu means everything is fresh and the two ladies at that the place could not be more helpful. We started with a shared plate of oysters... More

Wonderful food and a great atmosphere. The menue is small and reflects the season. As the chef is creative, he has no problems making special orders. We started with a deliciously light, creamy, and very tasty mushroom soup. The main course was fish and a vegetarian plate with a superb succini as a centrepiece. The climax was the warm chocolate... Anabela's Kitchen is the best kept secret in Berlin and is a jewel amongst the congnoscenti here. Her menu constantly changes and offers a small but delectable choice of four or five appetizers and main dishes. I recently ate grilled pulpo on a bed of tomato couli spiced with star anise and vanilla. To die for!!! Every dish and course... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
