Very simple and good food served by a friendly service. This is a more then 100 years old German traditional neighbourhood bar with great beer and service and fair prices. Recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

We ended up eating here twice out of our 4 day stay. The people who run the bar/restaurant are so pleasent, the traditional german food is lovely, very reasonably priced and the beer is good. It does get busy every evening (closed on Sundays) so I would recommend booking.

Real old fashioned pub with great atmosphere and food. Try the schnitzel fro authentic German taste. We returned several times during our stay for beer and stayed on to eat

We were lucky to get an outside table on a warm mid-week evening. Lots of people just having beers, but we ordered from the menu. The Matjes (cold, pan fried, then marinated herring) were good, but the currywurst, though the sauce was good, had a thick skin that was like an ill-fitting jacket. My husband reminded me that we had... More

Stumbled across this place as the restaurant a few doors down was closed for summer holidays. Really chilled - very old skool in the nicest way. Food was simple, homely and tasty! Staff were great and welcoming, and prices were very reasonable - what more can you ask for? 😁

Metzer Eck is an absolutely fantastic Prenzlauer Berg district unspoilt pub. It might be small but the portions are big! The food was great, the beer was cold and the people there were so lovely!

We always like to eat the cuisine of where we are staying and discovered this pub on the internet. Their menu has the dishes which we love and we tried Bauernfrühstück, Wiener Schnitzel and Brathering, all of which were delicious. They have a lovely German red wine and draught Schwarzbier, reminiscent of Köstritzer. The decor of the place must have... More

Keen to try some local German cuisine, we visited Metzer Eck for some Currywurst and German beer. Both the food and beer on offer tasted decent and I enjoyed dinning in a more traditional German setting.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
