The cocktails and meals all had a comprehensive allergy list. The food was traditional and wholesome. Large portions!

The food was ok, but what I really enjoyed was the authenticity of the neighborhood. Far away from the tourist placed, this gem of a neighborhood is worth visiting. The food is average cafe food.

Went to Zitrone with some friends for brunch. We ended up waiting for an hour on our food. While waiting we could enjoy ourselves watching the staff argue constantly. When we finally got our food, it was at best bland. Memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.

Popped in for a quick lunch on our way into central Mitte. Nice selection of well priced beer and had a delicious parma ham, mozzarella and pesto sandwich. Served delightfully in a warm baguette with two very punchy olives on top! Well balanced flavours, portion size and all perfect for a summers day. Tasted very fresh! Friendly service to the... More

Great food, fabulous location - and great atmosphere. We (6 people) had a lovely relaxed evening and the food was delicious. We had a range of traditional and contemporary German food. Lovely staff too.

Went there because all the recommended places in Kreuzberg were all closed for Lunch. But it ws a good choice. They offer german food on a reasonable price. The menu is a mixture of classic dishes more from south germany and modern creations.Prices for mains are all below 10€.

We visited this place for Sunday Brunch. The food was simple, but with good taste and fresh ingedients according to the season.More hot dishes and egg selection would be recomendable, but overall the selection was enough and nice.Service bit slow (full restaurant but only to server...dont spare on staff!),bit unprofessional (never place the service tray on the table!!!!) but very nice and friendly!... We found Zitrone to be a cosy place with nice interior, situated on a pretty street well worth walking down. Good coffee but no lemonade on a hot day. We didn't eat but the breakfast plates that were being served around us looked lovely!

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
