We've been going to Maru for a couple of years and always enjoyed the casual atmosphere and authentic cuisine. When they closed for renovations in 2016 I got worried. No more worries though, they have reopened, redecorated, and importantly redone the menu to include an amazing range of new dishes. Service is polite and helpful as always. No fake Koreans... More

This was my first Second Korean Experience and I'll definitely be back. The food was delicious, the service really friendly and the price was okay. Great little discovery!

I've been here many times, with friends, family etc. The food is really nice and there is plenty to choose from as a vegetarian (also, it is easy to find the vegetarian things on the menu). Yum! The only sad thing is that the furniture is not comfortable and the tables are always sticky, even if they're freshly cleaned. The... More

We ate several times at the Maru and noticed that the quality is always great. We started with vegetarian salads such as sea weed and kimchi. They were all fresh and had a very fine taste. As main courses we had Bibimbap (vegetarian) and Ramen. We also tried the Korean rolls before. All the dishes were great and we recommend... More

You heard about "Kimchi princess" and that's totally overhyped? Yeah, probably true. Take this detour and you'll experience a Korean crew that lives up to their food and hardly speaks any German. Tha'ts how it got to be!!

While I regularly eat at some good Asian places in Berlin, this is address is a particular favourite! Off the main tourist routes, it's hidden at the back of Frankfurter allee, not far from Boxhagener. The place is open every night but Monday, and offers outdoor seating in warm season. The bar scene and view is not what you are... More

The previous Tripadvisor reviews were all completely accurate - the food is delicious, really tasty and great value for money. Starters, mains and drinks for two came to €39 which, for the quality, was very good value. Not much ambience but the food makes up for it. Highly recommended.

Really fresh and tasty food. Dense flavours and such good value. It can be busy as the place is a little understaffed, but those working there are very, very pleasant!

This was the first time we had tried Korean food. Everything was freshly cooked & tasted excellent. Very friendly staff & not too expensive at all. It looks a bit basic from outside but you will not regret going in. Would go back again!!!

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
