6 course dinner with my wife and local friends. It is a set menu concept so no choosing. Each course was well prepared and each dish had a distinct taste. We had a vegetable dish, followed by a soup. later fish and chicken and topped it off with cheese and ice-cream. And a good bottle of Rose. Service was great... More

We had an excellent dinner : food was tasty, healthy and fresh... wine was perfectly matched with each course. A fantastic experience!

Neugruens Koche was a culinary highlight of our 3-week trip to Berlin. There were two prix-fixe 4-course menus, one vegetarian, the night we were there. My husband and I tasted each other's dishes and everything was extraordinary. Dinner was very leisurely--3 hours. The restaurant's website is only in German, but don't be put off by that. The charming and very... More

Knowledgeable maitre'd whose wine recommendations were spot on. Not intrusive, yet available and oh so helpful - a true asset to the establishment!

I sent my brother and wife for a special celebration. They are both "foodies" so I knew it wouldn't be a disappointment as I've been there myself a few times. The service was top - wines were brought out to the table to try before committing to buying. The food was excellent, well presented and tasty. The staff was really... More

My partner and I were in Berlin earlier this month planning an event there and asked the people we were meeting with where we could go for interesting vegetarian food. They recommended Neugruens, so we gave it a try. As other reviews have shared, from the street it looks like a very run-of-the-mill place, with a tiny sign. But once... More

Having read the good reviews I thought I would put this restaurant to the test (I have been to Berlin 4 times now and walked past this restaurant many a time on my way to/from the accommodation I stay at). I can sum up this restaurant in a few words: expensive, poor value, average food. I had a much better... More

It doesn´t look much at first glance, but it tastes so much better ;) Very indie-oriented restaurant for gourmet lovers, 2 menus only, all handmade with love, care and metropolitan knowledge. Very casual, but on a high level, which makes it special, so I can say they serve The Best Food in town ! In one word : Happy Food... More

Don't be put off by the small menu, they do a few things exceptionally well in a highly original modern European style. They do also have an exceptional vegetarian option for each of the four courses on offer, and although it doesn't look much from the outside the quality of food on offer is amongst the best I've had in... Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
