Nuremberg sausage is defined by law to a specific size and composition, and Zum Gulden Stern does an outstanding job of preparing the delicacy - they've been doing it since 1419. Be sure to have the sauerkraut; it is sweeter and much tastier than what you buy in the supermarket.

This is such an historic and authentic restaurant, and who doesn't want to eat Nuremburgers (traditional little sausages cooked on an open grill right before you) when in Nuremburg? My friends and I were lucky enough to show up early and get a table, but I it filled up quickly soon after, and I saw people being turned away as... More

We ate here twice whilst in the city. A bit out of the way but well worth the walk (5 mins from the old town). A building steeped in history (Though rebuilt in a similar style after the war), surrounded by pretty horrible modern buildings. You go here for the superb sausages, though we did see people eating other things.... More

I've been to this restaurant during both of my visits to Nuremberg and the food has been great both times. The Nuremberg brats are very tasty as well as the potatoes and sauerkraut. I've also had their soup and it was good. The atmosphere is fantastic and you can see them cooking the brats as soon as you walk in.... More

Vegetarians, be warned. There is nothing for you to eat here. Yes, there are potatoes and saurkraut, but the focus here is MEAT! We typically go in a big group and tell the wait staff to bring us a platter of meat. They work out the numbers and bring a huge platter of pork cutlets, Nurnberger sausages, and something thaty... We basically stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around close to our hotel. We decided to eat here because it looked so old and authentic. We only realized it was such a historic place once we sat down to eat and read the history on the menu. The food was really, really good and everyone ended up having seconds. The... More

Outstandingly historic restaurant in Nuremburg. Great food. Long history. Great place to visit. A bit off the beaten path.

Since 1419...a classic! Nuremburger sausages are the house specialty for about 600 years. Old wooden tables and chairs. Lots of old memorabilia, low ceilings, fireplace, lots of locals.
