It's been a year since our last visit, and it's just the same in 2017. Reasonable prices, outstanding menu selections, friendly service, and a small delightful atmosphere. The owner speaks english and is the chef. If you come to Garmisch or Mittenwald, it's worth a visit. And Mittenwald is a wonderful traditional village full of shops nestled between the mountain... Anyone who tends to avoid tourist overfilled areas should visit this quiet friendly place with perfect view to the mountains. Lucky if you meet here thunderstorm as we do twice here right after lunch before a cup of coffee )

I was traveling solo and decided to try this restaurant. The food was excellent and the Obstler after dinner was the best I ever had.

And was a little disappointed. Bavarian Pancake was heavy ( English toad in the hole without sausages) and toast of the house was salty. Friendly staff. Reasonable local beers.

Mittenwald has been a favourite 'all year round' holiday destination for us. It's particularly charming at Christmas. Likewise too, Zum Nachtwachter. We chose to return to eat here on our first night this year, and were both recognised and welcomed. The menu comprises a good choice of local favourite dishes. The food is lovingly cooked and attractively served. Well definitively... More

The chef has created his own menu with numerous specials, and the flavors are fabulous. We have visited several times and the service has always been great, and the restaurant's 3 intimate rooms are perfect for a quiet dining experience. The owner speaks English too, making it easier for us non-Deutsch speakers. Finally, save room for his own desert specials,... More

Had a perfect week in Mittenwald - a beautiful place with just about all one could ask for: mountains, cycling, a music festival and great food. Top of the food picks was Zum Nachtwachter - a quiet place in a lovely setting, just round the corner (and hence missed by the throng) from the Uber Markt. We had lunch and... More

Smallish, unpretentious restaurant where the chef/owner will cook you up simple great tasting dishes with the best local ingredients. Like others I had the pork and mushrooms, (excellent), but perhaps the best experience was sat at the bar with a beer tucking into what amounted to 'Bavarian tapas' - cured meats, slices of smoked sausage, cheese, and a crisp radish... We had drinks here one night and dinner the next since we liked it so much. It is small and not full of tourist, mostly locals. The chef (owner) came out to take our order since he spoke better english than the waitress, only two people on staff. Both were very friendly and helpful. They place is small and also... More
