We ate here on our first night in Lyon and we really cannot fault the food. We both had the dorado ceviche to start and it was absolutely delicious. I had the fillet of Iberico pork for my main course with chorizo risotto and it...was incredibly tasty and well cooked. My partner had the sea bass for main and really enjoyed it too. We both had the Rum Baba for dessert and again it was delicious. Overall a really good experience. The food is not cheap (we did probably order some of the more expensive menu items) and the service was a little hit and miss at times (there was a mistake with our wine order). However, overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant!More

good, but over priced ! the food is good, the wine was fine, but 130 for 2, ..... I won't come back ! and I am an admirer of M. Paul Bocuse, and that was far from the first time I went to one of...those brasserie . If back, I will only stick to Le Nord, as I know some of the team. Here, no more.More

We went to dine in this restaurant as it was recommended by the concierge. Unfortunately, the experience was not exceptional. First. The service was good. The young staff were nice and friendly. Second, the ambience was very nice. The restaurant was busy which was a...good sign. Then, prices were expensive. We did not mind. We hoped it will be worth it. French menu had plate of the day and choices to have two or three plates. English menu did not have this. It’s odd. But we had to order from the English menu. I had chicken Caesar salad for my starter. It was the Hit. It was generous to the point it was like the main meal itself. Everything was perfect. My main was the huge disappointment. I ordered the pan seared beef fillet. Medium well. But it arrived very well done. I think this is unimaginable. It was so dry. I had to ask my companion to finish my beef. In fairness, a waiter later asked me how the food was and I showed him my dry beef fillet. He did offer to have it exchanged, but it was getting late and we’d already like to leave. So we declined. We also don’t want to wait anymore. Sigh! I’ve tasted better in some corner cafes.More

Terrific service from first to last to match a delicious Sunday lunch. The Escargots Bourgogne, 7 little pots of temptation, each snail baked in garlic and tomato and topped with a crisp crouton, splendid. Jamon Bellota, a fair way from home but elegantly served as...if in a small mountain and served with bread rubbed with tomato. Great! All three of us chose Entrecôte with French fries and salad. Each mouthful of the perfectly cooked steak was delicious. The jus rich and sweet. Encroyable, possibly the best I have ever tasted. Hardly room for dessert but tempted by the sight of sweet things heading for other tables, we chose Meringues Glacees and Creme Brûlée, very good indeed. There is plenty of choice on the carte des vins but the Pot Crozes, local Crozes Hermitage was just right and fairly priced. Merci beaucoup.More

I am really puzzled by the negative reviews. I read a lot of them and wanted to go elsewhere, but we were visiting friends in Lyon, and as this was one of their favorite restaurants, we went. First, it is an old train station and...it is really rich in atmosphere. The staff are first rate and service was excellent. The food was absolutely excellent and the polenta served with my rib chop was the best I have had, and I've had a lot of polenta in Italy. It is an absolutely beautiful room with a model train running around near the ceiling. The staff was professional, friendly, and well-dressed. I don't like excessively fancy or snobby restaurants and this place was both elegant and informal, if that makes sense. I absolutely loved this place and I am really puzzled by some of the negative reviews. A really great evening at a great restaurant! Go! You won't be sorry.More

This restaurant was owned by the pope of the French cuisine : Paul Bocuse. The quality price is exceptional (about 60 euros per person) : chefs cook in front of you. I've loved the Salmon/cheese pizza .... I was a regular costumer when i was...living in Lyon. My friends are still going there quiet oftenMore

First person to arrive here after they opened for lunch on Monday. The lady at the front desk ignored me while she answered the phone..she was nice to the people she was speaking with but I watched her give eye-rolls to her co-workers. Not good....Eventually she sighed as asked me if she could help me. It took a while for a server to come to me. I had to chase them for menus, bread, olives, water etc. The food was okay but nothing great. Dont think this place is worth another visit.More

Tonight, I went to "la Brasserie de l'Est" for the first time with two members of my family and it was a great discovery. The place is really pleasant with a little train turning around the room. We were warmly welcomed by a young friendly...man at the reception and two of the waiters (Sarah and Mathieu) took care of us the whole evening. The meals were really good, especially the autumn salad, the "baba au rhum" and the "vacherin"! They eventually offered us some sparkling wine for free and the overall atmosphere was just great! I highly recommend it.More

The place is packed... and not with the most refined customers... our table neighbors using the ice bucket holder as a trash bin... horrible! Service is reasonably fast but the young staff are not up to the right standards for a restaurant claiming some link...to Paul Bocuse. The food was acceptable but not outstanding. For instance, the smoked salmon was good but the pork cutlet wasn't properly cooked. Since the prices are high relative to those of other nearby restaurants in Lyon, it is advisable to avoid L'Est and to dine elsewhere.More

The food that we had was excellent, both ordered from the 'Menu Du Jour' which was excellent value for money; €24.90 for 2-course and €27.50 for 3-course. The starters on the main menu were close to that anyway. Initially, the service was outstanding with the...head-waiter and waiters filling glasses as they passed and so forth. As the evening got busier (VERY busy), this understandably dropped a fair bit with the plentiful number of staff rushing about everywhere like ants. Some of the junior staff were occasionally confused, delivering for to the wrong tables and also think my dessert was incorrect (there were two similar items and I was halfway through before I realised.) All in all, €100 for two for a full evening, two aperitifs, three delicious courses, a 'pot' of wine (0.5l) and coffee was pretty good.More
