We chose to eat relatively early and yet the restaurant was already quite busy. Our table was on the ground floor but if that level had been full we'd have been dispatched downstairs into a "cellar" type eating area - still well, if quaintly, furnished and no less welcoming. However, for anyone with walking difficulties the stairs down would have... More

A good restaurant in the old town of Lyon. Good homemade food with friendly service. Excellent pumpkin soup and prawn risotto and wonderful cervelle de canuts. Well worth a detour for this good value for money restaurant.

Food and service here were excellent. I had a lovely steak, superb frites (chips) and a wonderful dessert. By eating early, I also benefitted from a great value early bird menu. There are lots of good looking and expensive but poor eating restaurants in Vieux Lyon. The location of La Chimere is a little off the beaten track, but was... More

We had the lamb and it was amazing and tender! Loved it. The waiter brought bread and when I asked for butter, he acted as if it was the end of the world saying We don't do that here. I can't give you butter. Having butter with bread is a universal habit in all restaurants ANYWHERE in the world ...

I was fortunate to be rewarded with a table soon after La Chemire opened, without reservation on a Friday evening. The desk staff at my hotel steered me here and I was very thankful. The interior is unique and comfortable, the food is fantastic and plentiful.

We arrived for a late dinner, the restaurant was over flowing and we were warned we would have to wait. That being all said, I was so impressed with the professionalism of the staff and their diligence in trying to serve everyone and keep all the clients happy. We chose from the tasting menus - menu Gormand, and we were... More

If this were only about the food, it would be a 4, but due to many service issues I have to go down significantly. We went with the high-end menu (35€) with a carafe of White for the starters and a bottle of Red (42€) with the mains (beef fillet). It started with the waiter always talking to us in... More

Got last table on a Tuesday night 8pm. Was busy and waiter said will take time for food. We said - fine we'll drink wine and relax. The atmosphere was quiet and contented. He took our order when the kitchen was ready to freshly prepare our food - much better than ordering and then waiting 45 minutes for starters to... More

Lovely rich colours on the walls with very original wallpaper/paintwork, mismatching tables and chairs, a stone staircase lit up with bottles of wine - this is fab place to go if you want to get away from formatted menus and standard design. The food is all freshly cooked and very tasty. We had the Lyonnais menu. My eggs poached in... More

This is a great choice for quality French food at good value in the old town. Book ahead - Sunday was a busy evening for service with many who had not booked turned away with a 'je suis desole'. Three simple menu options we went with the middle one and were not disappointed. Highlights were the asparagus starter and crayfish... More
