It was recommended to us by a friend of a friend who is also a chef, and we were not disappointed. There were couples, families and groups all dining outside on the patio. Our part of 3 did the prix fixe meals and all ordered different appetizers and entrees - all of them were delicious.

A tremendous dining experience. We just happened upon it while walking in the Croix Rousse area and the head waiter was so incredibly accommodating! We had a bottle of rose on the patio and then enjoyed a tremendous dinner inside. My wife had an incredible seared steak and I had a poached whitefish. Cozy atmosphere and frequented by locals! Thank... More

After travelling through Italy, Greece, Amsterdam, and now through France, my fiancee and I agreed... this is hands down the best meal we have had in our 3 weeks of travelling. Sorry to Cacio de Pepe, Sonja and Mike at Villa Scopetello, and the farmers and cheese makers of Amsterdam in the Albert Cuyp market... the team at La Table... More

We visited this restaurant with our nieces and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The staff/chef are still (we were there almost one year ago) very kind and attentive and able to deal with our broken French...it helped that our nieces are fluent in French...and that the gentleman who took care of us spoke English quite well! The menu changes based on... More

We ate here while visiting my sister and her family in Lyon. Her daughters loved La Table because the Chef gave them lollipops at the end of the meal! The bavette (which all of us shamelessly ordered) was perfectly cooked. The Chef also brought our youngest niece 3 flavours of ice cream because she could not decide which she preferred!... More

In Summer and Spring there is a pleasant terrace on Place Tabareau. They regularly change their menu and the chef dares to try new taste combinations. The dishes stay French orientated but sometimes with a little touch of other flavors. Such as, mackerel with smoked paprika (pimenton) or bavette with pesto sauce or white fish with asiatic cream sauce and... More

Our second visit to Lyon and we were exploring the Croix -Rousse area . We had planned to eat at a restaurant recommended on the EasyJet site but..... that one was empty and this one, next door was buzzing. The menu de jour was interesting and you could have one to three courses at a very reasonable price. The bavette... More

The restaurant is kind of hidden on one of the big squares of the Croix-Rousse. Service is ggood and pricing is excelllent with a well priced famous Barral Faugères red wine. The food is creative, right out of the market, offering nice cominations as the tomato salad with chorizo or the partridge terrine with cream of porcini. Very good desserts.

We had a lovely evening meal here on 14th July, Bastille Day, during a long weekend in Lyon. The restaurant is in a quiet square and we were able to sit outside on the terrace with a game of boules going on in the background. The restaurant was very popular and filled up rapidly, so we were glad we had... More

It is nice to have Thierry and Michele Lhopital back in the Croix Rousse. (They formally ran La Marmite en Bois.) It is not high end or overly fancy but his cooking is fresh and different from the usual steak and/or fish dishes which one has started to expect. The setting is relaxed.
