The animatronic polar bears just inside the entrance should have been a heads up. A large restaurant made 'cosy' by an incredible amount of seemingly curio shop clutter. Cow bells, copper pans, taxidermy to name a few. Talking points I suppose! Perhaps a distraction tactic for the pricey menu. Staff were polite and efficient. The menu was extensive and Savoyard.... Initially I was a bit put off by the gimmicky decor but once I got past that we had a lovely meal - raclette was delicious

We ate here as a group in Jan 2017. Despite the fact that I had written confirmation of my reservation with them 4 working days beforehand they tried to turn us away saying we had no reservation. Even when I pulled out the email confirmation they continued to insist we had no reservation. Eventually they called the number I had... More

Five of us ordered the Fondue Complete one night last week. It was fantastic. There was so much food! The waiter recommend a very good Chablis which paired nicely with the meal. The only down side was that despite being very friendly, the service the night we were there was very slow. This is what lost the restaurant one star... More

The fondue in this place is incredible. If you can get over the décor it is definitely worth a visit. it is extremely central and reasonably priced. Watch out for the polar bear on the way in

We had ok lunch at the Celeche. The service was good, but nothing special. Had snails for starters which I can recommend. Beef tournedos that I ordered medium was almost well done.

Located in the heart of the town the restaurant boast beautiful interiors and impressive menu. Packed with local specialities, the main highlight of the menu is fantastic Raclette - a must try for any visitor. I loved everything about this place: the food, interiors and service. It's usually very busy even during low season so worth making a reservation in... More

A visit to La Caleche is always a must when visiting Chamonix. It is in a fabulous building and very atmospheric. The staff were lovely and welcoming and very friendly. The food not so great.....the french onion soup lacked any flavour. The pierrade of beef.turkey and chicken was delish and a lovely way to spend the evening. It's a bit... More

Last time we were in Chamonix we tried the restaurant La Cabane des Praz which is really good. This time we had dinner at La Calèche (same group). The restaurant is very typical, all in wood and very suitable for groups and family. We had raclette and it was very good. I recommend make a reservation.
