At first, I didn't think this place would be a good restaurant because its right in the middle of the a very "touristy" area. Up until we were seated that you notice that French locals come here with their family. My wife and I didn't think we could finish the bouillabaisse 63 euros/person so we indulge in other things on... More

We went for lunch since we were staying in the area and this place was so nice. Good service and they speak good English.

Came to Marseille especially for Bouillabaisse and Le Miramar did not disappoint. A delicious meal that seemed a little pricey but had a number of inclusions we had not been aware of such as appetisers and sweets (we really did not need to order dessert as pannacotta and small sweet cakes/biscuits) were included with the bouillabaisse menu.

qThis restaurant has good service, lots of people to change out your silverware and hovering about, but not what I would expect for a fine dining experience. I have had much better service, at less fancy establishments. There are some nice little amuse-bouches that they serve, but for what they are charging I would have really expected more. I ordered... Yes, we did think the bouillabaisse was as good as any, but would have appreciated a more caring attitude to service. Untrained staff, rushed listing of fish, removal of rouille and croutons before the fish arrived. But fabulous amuse bouches, delicious pre- and post-dessert desserts. If only the service matched the quality of the food.

The dynamic owner of Miramar personally came to our table to offer us some interesting facts about the bouillabaisse specialty of the Cote d’Azure in France. This traditional Provençal dish requires preparing a broth with roasted red pepper, peeled cloves of garlic, some white bread torn into pieces to thicken it, then egg yolks, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, olive oil,... Nuala and I can be tough customers, and we were losing patience with the slow start of service -- but we were assured by an American woman nearby that the pace would pick up after our orders were taken. She was right. Ironically, we had just come from Paris, but this was our most expensive meal to date in our... More

We chose Miramar because it adheres to the Charter of the Bouillabaisse, a protection against "tourist bouillabaisses" served all over the city. And, yes, their bouillabaisse was served with care and tasted superb. But the quality of the service evaporated immediately after we'd finished. The waitress who'd served us our main course never came near our table again, too busy... More

We spent just 48 h in Marseille and absolutely wanted to have a real "bouillabaisse". The hotel did not make much effort - they directed us to the most touristic restaurant in town. So, yes, it is right next to the harbor (which is not quite quiet or romatic at night) and it serves the famous fish soup - 68€... More

In August - five months later - we went back to this restaurant on my request our last experience had been simply delicious from start to finish. Three of us chose the "soupe de poisson" rather than the bouillabaisse this time, since we wanted to have a starter and dessert and not feel as overstuffed as we did in March.... More
