Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ignore the so called bad reviews and go to this restaurant. Our server Christoph was the best! Lovely conversation with him, he was knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to explain to us so that we ordered just the right things. The food...was amazing. My husband had the set menu (yummy curried soup, lamb and then the chocolate dessert). I had the beef along with the chocolate cake for dessert. A find for sure and the view of the Palais des Pape is great as you are in the square below it (although we are inside).More

Horrible. The eldest waiter was so rude. He literally treated us like we were stupid just because we did not speak French and despite asking and trying our best to be understood (we’re Italians, but can speak proper English) he kept speaking French very fast....The rudest, most arrogant, negative waiter ever met. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There’s many more around Avignon, don’t be fooled. Paying 2,50€ for an espresso is already ridiculous, but doing so while a waiter makes fun of you is a bit too much.More

After touring the Palace of the Popes, we stopped for some refreshment. The server was very pleasant. That experience together with a recommendation from our host, we decide to have dinner here. The dinner service area is splendid white linen tablecloth service facing the Palace....The Foie gras melted in our mouths. The taste and presentation of the lamb shoulder was superb and the cream sauce on the penne pasta was light and exploded with flavor! Don’t pass up the Profiterole XL.More

Extremely rude staff. Told us to move our bicycles before even thinking to ask if we wanted food or drinks. We wanted both but now we will go elsewhere.More

An excellent location, especially if you can snag a seat in the shadows. We just had drinks, the service was prompt if somewhat diffident. No problem, it's not a pleasant job.

We visited Avignon today with my family. Upon parking our car at a central location we walked to find a restaurant to eat before starting our tour of the town. The first restaurant we found was Le Moutardier, so we walked towards it in order...to find a place to sit. As soon as we found one, the arrogant waitress arrived and she nearly started shouting that we should wait. So we did… we were just standing there waiting for her majesty’s to pay some attention to us. I couldn’t wait any longer so I told her that if she can’t service us then we could move to another restaurant… so she turned with an angry eye, showing us to move on to another restaurant… People avoid such restaurants… They should have trained their staff to behave more like humans rather than animals in the jungle…More

Very nice lunch after visiting the Pope's Palace. Service is nice and with care, prices slightly higher but understandable as it's a very nice location just opposite the place facing the palace. Some salads come in entrée or main dish size.

Popped into cafe before crowds to the Pope's Palace. Cafe au late and black Americano with croissant was an ideal way to start the day. Great place to people watch. Fantastic views of Palace No rush by staff for us to leave. Coffee - fantastic

If this place did not have such a prime location it would not do well. Arrogant waiters who seem to have a highly inflated opinion of themselves. Would not recommend.

Great view of the Palais des Papes. Service was initially prompt as we were early but as the place got busier it was impossible to get the attention of the waiter - we waited 30 minutes just to get the bill!! The food was average...— the tuna steak was inedible and the rest of the food forgettable. In short, go there for the view of the Palais des Papes but nothing else.More

Amazing service, very good food and setting .. the personnel take care of clients, explain things, take their time to discuss, we were a family of 4 and we had a very good experience. We recommend this place because it has good quality price.

Horrible nothing else or different in this time of COVID-19. No precautions, no cleaning of the table after clients left. We saw that repeatedly... This let you imagine the kitchen???

Having walked around the Palais des Papes we wanted a drink so chose this bar/restaurant right opposite the entrance. There were 2 waitresses, one was terribly busy folding napkins, the other was listlessly dragging herself around serving. Her body language screamed ‘I hate my job,...I’m bored stupid n I don’t give a sh*t’. We tried to catch her attn several times but, despite her walking past us twice, didn’t even get an acknowledgement of our presence let alone a Bonjour (I’ve lived in France - I know when I’m being ignored). After 10 mins of watching her go back and forth to the kitchen and her colleague busy folding napkins we gave up and left (we probably should have realised the state of affairs from the number of people at tables with no actual food or drink in front of them). I can only assume that this place stays in business based on its location cos it sure as hell isn’t because of the service.More
