A friend who frequents the region as well as our Uber driver recommended La Fourchette, so we figured it'd be good. A small, intimate dining room (you are pretty close to other guests, FYI) and a short but excellent menu. Entree-Plat-Desert is 43 euros, but you can also order a la carte. There is a menu enfant, 16 euros for either fish or meat with potato croquettes and chopped veggies, plus a scoop of glace.
My husband said the fish was very good, a level above other local restaurants we tried. I'm a vegetarian and I had two entrees, the aubergines Provencale and a burrata tomato salad. Both were very good. There was plenty of bread to soak up the yummy sauces.

After a few years we returned to this restaurant which we remembered best from the culinary tradition of Avignon. The two owners - the lady in the dining room and him in the kitchen - are no longer in business but now it is their son who continues the family tradition. The environment is renovated but without flaws, it is warm and welcoming. The only concession (which we do not approve of) to new times is the lack of tablecloths; for the rest a nice memory brought back up to date. A garlic sauce with croutons was waiting for us on the table to while away the wait, followed by a velouté of cauliflower and "chevre" of great cuisine and the same goes for a squid and Chinese cabbage salad of impressive perfection. We then enjoyed some excellent Avignon-style braised veal and finally a well-made tarte tatin. Generous portions and fair prices. Refill of wines normal. Also thanks to the season without excessive tourism, we spent a quiet evening that we will remember for a long time. Thank you.

Excellent quality and traditional taste. We got a soup, escargots and beauf all made fresh and based on traditional receipts. It was a great experience. The manager and staff are also very kind and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Lunch a 2 accompanied by a 6 month old baby.
Excruciating service, the visiting customer does not seem to be welcome at this address.
While we had asked to procrastinate, the entries were sent, no time to give baby food quietly. In the process the main course and dessert, no time to blow while the restaurant was far from crowded. All botched in an hour.
125 euros for 2 menus (starter and dessert), 2 aperitifs and 50cl of wine. C good but nothing extraordinary.
First and last time. The visiting guest is not welcome at this address.

Excellent experience. Super service, fine ambiance, great food.
Seems that this is a Frenchman’s French restaurant. While everyone on staff spoke English, one didn’t hear that language from other tables. The food is hearty and good; tremendously satisfying. Is it 4 star Michelin? No. Ut it doesn’t pretend to be that either. Appetizers were on point: lovely smoked salmon with green beans; a cauliflower soup, and a simple salad. Two entrees enjoyed the winter beef stew; I loved a veal steak.
The wine: simple, unpretentious and good. Like the service and the entire experience. Happy to recommend this place to all.

That was really fun!
Attentive service, also in English.
The food was really tasty and of high quality,
price-performance ratio was right.
Unfortunately we were charged separately for the starter and main course, but they should have been cheaper as a combination (entree and plates). But we didn't want to make a fuss about it because the evening was otherwise so lovely...
It's a shame, otherwise it would have been an all-round lovely culinary evening - but still 5 points.

Nice restaurant in the center of Avignon, with a pleasant atmosphere. The dishes are good, but I think the price is a little expensive compared to what we ate (pork and beef stew are not very expensive raw materials. )
The staff very friendly and helpful

We had a magnificent dinner here. Fantastic service from all the staff. There was a delicious tapenade with crisps on arrival and we enjoyed this with perfect wines recommended by our waiter from Venezuela. We ate tomato and burrata to share, followed by the veal and pork, both perfectly cooked and delicious. Dessert was a meringue to share, also amazing. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and we were amazed by the toilet with a plastic seat cover that is refreshed after each use. That was a first!
Eat here if you can. You won't regret it.

Very good dinner at La Fourchette. We just 24 hours ahead for dinner and were probably lucky to get in, because by the time we left this evening it was very full, with only one empty table. Food is mostly very good.. Gazpacho was a little sweet for some tastes, being based on melon, but otherwise good. My starter of prawn risotto was rather odd with cold rice & sauce aurore and some rather odd warm raisins, the overall effect again a little sweet. However the confit pork shoulder with was excellent, very well-balanced and tender with a hint of fresh coriander, and the daube de boeuf was excellent, deeply flavoured and plentiful sauce with the tenderest meat falling apart under the fork, a r welcome example of unfashionable but deeply satisfying cuisine grandmère. . Sweets were excellent, an extremely well-soaked rhum baba, again perhaps a tad sweet for some, and an enormous profiterole stuffed with vanilla ice cream with caramel squiggles on the plate and chocolate sauce served separately. The wine list is good, with several by the glass or by the 50cl pichet. Service was excellent, the room is comfortable. €6 for a bottle of water semed rather steep, but with a total bill of €111 (3 courses €43) for a very good meal for two, little cause for complaint.

La Fourchette is not very big and it filled up fast. And with the people rose the noise level. While the food was fine, the noise was less. So if you are looking for a quiet place to have a easy going dinner, this is maybe the wrong place. if you don't mind loud people around you, you can have a good dinner here, even if I think the place is overrated. There is a 3 course menue for 42 Euro with several first dishes, mains and sweets. and there is a good choice of wine. All fine, except...

Some good bits to begin.
The starters were delicious. I had aubergine and my partner had salmon gravalax. A solid 9/10.
The Aperol spritz’s we’re very nice and the wine was lovely.
Thats’s where the good bits end.
We both ordered the fish with chorizo for main course however what came was the fish with clams. I speak good French, I know I didn’t order the clam dish - neither of us like shellfish.
We told our waiter who took the order that we think there has been a mistake and we received the wrong mains, he said no that is what we ordered and there isn’t anything they can do.
Clams aside, we tried to eat the rest of the dish but it was so overpoweringly sickly and lemony that we couldn’t eat it. The green beans were the best thing about our main course.
We quickly paid and left.

A superb menu well-constructed and very tasty. The choice is a fixed-price menu or you can opt for each dish as you wish. Very nice staff who all seem to speak excellent English. The owner may tease anyone English by explaining the menu at high speed in French but if, like me, you struggle, his English is, in fact, perfect.

My wife and I visited for dinner and there were some red flags right away, one server was warm and friendly, while our main server was openly hostile and downright rude. At one point, she almost threw the food on the table. My wife had a fish dish she thought was pretty good and I had a pork dish that was downright terrible and never should have been served. Our server threw some bread on the table but we had to flag her down to ask for olive oil. The pork was dry, overcooked and flavorless, so much so I felt ill after the worst meal I've had in France. Would steer clear.

Excellent food and service. We were in Italy, France and Spain for five weeks, eating all meals out, and this was one of the most memorable meals and experiences. Professional, friendly staff (distinctly friendly which is not something you always experience in France). Amazing menu, beautiful presentation. Even the bread on the side which every table gets is unforgettable. Had nicely prepared cocktails, great wined. Atmosphere is perfect. We would go back for sure. 100% solid restaurant in Avignon.
