Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here for a special dinner and it was. Great food well paired with local wines by the wait staff. Food was great and it was not crowed unlike restaurants in the central square. 5 star food without all the carry on!

the upscale will is there but burnout on delivery , sad , chill laid back vibe with a sophisticated feel , disappointing for the taste buds ......my son called it "mediocre". bit harsh . It's a tough game .

We visited as a family of 11. The staff were extremely attentive from the moment we arrived. It was a very hot day and we enjoyed the air conditioning! The food was delicious and excellent value. Highly recommended

This spot is where you need to go for excellent, but relatively simple, traditional French food with a sommelier who knows their trade and a massive wine bar. It costs more than the plain eateries on the Place de l'Horloge, but it is definitely worth...the money. We're going back!More

This was a very nice restaurant and had a great patio in the back. We had a three course tasting menu with a wine pairing. The food and wine were great for the first 2 courses but this is where things went downhill. The third...course was served ontime but there was no wine pairing. The restaurant was getting quite busy by this time, and we waited for the sommelier. We finally ate dessert, and waited for another 20 minutes before advising our server that we had not received our third wine pairing, and requested to see the sommelier. After another 10 minutes, and him passing by our table twice, he finally appeared. When we advised that he had not brought us our third pairing, he did not apologize, but more or less threw the serving staff under the bus, by blaming them for not advising him that dessert had been served. This was a totally inappropriate response. He asked if we wanted a glass of Champagne to make up for this. We said no, and asked for the bill, with a reduction for the portion of the meal we had not received. I give the restaurant a top marks review for food quality, interior ambience, food presention and quality of its servers. The attitude of the sommelier needs improvement.More

Pretty courtyard. Beautifully prepared and delicious food. Not bad value as such good quality. However, slightly eccentric outcome when we asked for cheese which on the english version of the menu showed it as being available as part of the set menu with wine pairing...which we'd ordered. On the French version there was a supplement for a cheese course which we did not notice when we ordered. Instead of just giving us some cheeses with whatever wine he'd have paired with it, the head waiter /manager, perhaps owner, made a fuss and we were given some odd wines without labels. On reflection we should have objected but we were by then weary after a very hot day. Don't let this put you off too much. The food was great.More

We had a wonderful experience at L'Essentiel. The restaurant has a lovely outdoor courtyard. The food was great. The chef had developed some unique and tasty French appetizer and entree options. The owner visited with us extensively and was delightful with our 8 and 9...year-old granddaughters. By far, this was our best dining experience during our vacation in Provence.More

Six of us came in here for lunch on a hot day: a true oasis. We started out in the mediaeval courtyard, beautiful sandstone walls and real historicity. We had a nice aperitif here. As soon as we sat down at the table, though, the...heavens opened, and the hail started. We moved inside, and the real food began. Rack of lamb was the best I have had for many years, and the choice of wines from the very experienced owner/great sommelier was simply off the charts. Delicious desserts, friendly service. Would recommend without reservation. Really memorable.More

We were looking for someplace special for one of our last nights in Provence and found it. Limited selection was fine for us; three course meal (entree, plat, desert) - every dish inventive and wonderfully tasty. Good atmosphere, relaxed and good service without hurrying. A wonderful hostess greeted us and was delightful throughout our meal, including calling a cab for us at the end. The dining room is modern, and the food an interesting mix of traditional and creative. My spouse loved what he ordered from foie gras to...7-hour lamb, while I was less happy with my choices. The egg parfait was very eggy and to me without any highlights. I expected the chicken to be great and it was an attractive presentation, but I didn’t care for the consistency (sous vide, I’m pretty sure) and the flavors weren’t brought out with any herbs or spices. Again, my spouse’s dessert was a decadent little molten chocolate cake and mine was a rich raspberry/cherry jam accented with sorbet and meringue. Wines by the glass were good to excellent and the service friendly and efficient.More

Shirt and nice trousers will do nicely and the bill for three courses and wine will be around €120-140 I would say.
