I popped in on my own for a mid-week lunch in May. My wife and I have eaten here before and it was excellent the last time we visited. If anything, it has got even better! I opted for the prix fixe lunch. I started with asparagus velouté and then had the beef tartare with duck fat chips and salad. Absolutely fabulous. The selection of mini desserts with coffee rounded everything of brilliantly. In my opinion the food is exceptional, the serving staff delightful and the ambience classically French provincial. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderfully authentic French restaurant. Bianca speaks extremely good English and all the staff a charming. The décor and atmosphere of this slightly off-piste restaurant are genuine Charentais and the shop front is to die for! The food is very traditional. None of your tourist stuff here. My wife had the shredded leaks with boiled egg. I had the country pate. Both were splendid both in taste and presentation. For my main course I had the steak tartare and chips (cooked in beef fat) and my wife had chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms. Delicious. Cheese for one and crème brulee for the other. Everything was washed down with the Charente Maritime merlot. Really jolly good. The total bill was 62 euros for the two of us. Excellent value.
Would I go again? Absolutely. It was very very good and terribly authentic for what really is a tourist town. Highly recommended for authenticity.

Affable and quick service despite our being a big and very American group. They were accommodating even with two small persons. Good honey food. Location can be a little loud with cars whipping by in the square.

We booked here on 3rd night of our stay in Cognac (reviews of first 2 restaurants available). I’m not sure we were at the same establishment as others who have reviewed. Bianca was indeed lovely and the food was all fine but nothing particularly memorable. Maybe we’ve been a bit spoiled.

Such delicious, well cooked food. We had dinner here with our 2 year old baby and the food - especially the lamb - was gorgeous. We preferred this meal to our dinner the night before at Michelin starred Les Foudres. The hosts were so kind and especially sweet to our baby. Merci Merci!

Stopped here for lunch during a day trip to Cognac. Wonderful service, wonderful food and wine. My husband had the duck for a main and it was mouth-watering. I had the tartare and it was the best I had all trip. We had made reservations and were glad we did because the place was full, with many turned away. The staff were all charming, helpful, and very efficient.

Such a wonderful experience for lunch we had. Efficiently run by husband and wife team. Food is brilliant and proved by the number of locals frequenting it. Book early as a few people were turned away. Onion soup magnificent.

Still Wonderful. My wife and I both had the prix fixe menu of the day. We have been here once before and the quality of the food, the presentation and the charm of the server have not changed. The food is excellent. Bianca,owner-server, speaks impeccable
English. The ambience is charming, if not a little "Hello Hello" (no bad thing).

Right near the Martell building, (which is worth a visit btw, 5th floor bar} the little restaurant on the corner, quite small inside but excellent food here. We had duck in a lovely sauce and delicious mash, quite simple food but very nicely cooked. The wine was good too. Great service from very friendly staff, reasonably priced.
There was a comment I read by someone complaining the toilet entrance was straight into restaurant, abosolute tosh, ignore the silly comment. I used the bathroom was tucked away at the back and to the side!

For a town centre restaurant - this was good food in pleasant surroundings at a reasonable price. We had the set menu without dessert 17 euros plus 3,30 for a glass of local sav blanc.

We had lunch at La rôtisserie de Philippe as a young family with two children (4 and 7 years old)
The food was impeccable and the service was friendly, helpful, and to the point. We had the appetizer and main dish. It wasn't an issue that we wanted only a main course for the 4yo. The waitress even suggested that they bring his main course together with our appetizer. Which worked out perfectly! And the food was, as I said, impeccably delicious.
In summary: a great experience!
