Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For years the English have been obsessed with the myth of that special little French restaurant - you know, that place, with that menu, that food, those wines, those prices. Well in Saumur, we found it. Great rustic French cooking at great rustic French prices. We had petit pois, sea bass, rabbit terrine, beef cheeks and shared a Breton pudding and strawberries, with a glass of local wine (€4-6) for each dish recommended by our helpful waiter. An evening to remember.

We ate very well. You can tell that the kitchen is very creative and high quality. This made the menu need to be explained, which unfortunately led to relatively long delays in service, especially since the card had to be translated for non-French speaking guests and at the same time a large group with us took up most of the attention of the service. That was a shame.

It's been twice that I eat in this restaurant and it's from place to place. What a taste experience!! Everything is fresh and homemade, the chef is a prodigy. I also loved the welcome with an explanation of each dish that takes you on a trip and gives you mouth water. Thank you so much.

Very long wait for dishes that were far from contemporary. Their version of fake foie gras looked like a piece of butter with chives through, very heavy and little taste. Better to serve real. The candied duck leg was mainly large but not refined. The lamb sweetbreads overcooked, rubbery and in a heavy sauce. Disappointing.

Situated in the historic area near the famous Ardilliers church, this restaurant is a nice walk from the centre with lots of free parking near by.
The menu is on chalk boards which was translated by our waiter giving a full description of each item.
There was a good choice of dishes, a decent sized portion and extremely well presented. All dishes were cooked from fresh and we chose two great local wines from a good wine list. It was a great meal in an area away from the centre and lots of noise. We sat outside but there was also ample seating inside. The service was great considering the restaurant was full on a Monday evening. Do try this one, a little gem!

Excellent local wines. A succulent original cuisine. As the young people say, the head of veal sauce gribiche is a "killing". Baba Combier is delicious.
An address to remember but you must book in advance.

This restaurant is an extraordinary discovery.
The cuisine is exceptional and generous. Today, finding a restaurant that puts veal chuck and stuffed cabbage on its menu is unexpected.
The service matches the cuisine, frank, generous and friendly.
Restaurateurs who love their job.
Don't hesitate, you will taste fresh products in delicious dishes

Very friendly welcome with the chef's wife, full of humor and insight; she presents the menu in detail, so that the choice becomes complicated as all the dishes are desirable
And the dishes live up to the hopes born from the presentation
A special mention for “the poor man’s foie gras” 👍
Overall an excellent dinner in this “bouchon de Saumur”

What a delicious meal we had there. Located close to the Loire, just outside the center of Saumur, you will find this small and super cozy restaurant. Limited but very original and varied range of starters, main courses and desserts. Each dish is explained by the hostess and staff, after which a sensation of flavors follows. The presentation of the plates is also at the same level. The slow-cooked pork and the lamb cheeks... what flavor bombs. And all this for very reasonable prices... Unfortunately, we only stayed in Saumur for a short time. But more than worth the detour!

Small restaurant that doesn't look like much from the outside, and yet... Local cuisine, colorful and full of character!
A passionate and exceptionally kind lady presented the dishes to us in detail, from the cooking method to the seasoning. We know what we are eating and it feels good.
Thank you for this good time 😊

Local gem off the Beaton track offering a selection of regional cuisine and wines all reasonably priced. Staff clearly enjoy what they they offer and very knowledgeable. Must book ahead and worth making to effort to walk just that bit further . Very good wine bar opposite as well !

It is always a real pleasure to find this little Lyonnais cork on the banks of the Loire with the boss in the kitchen, his wife and Gaëtan in the room. This day, egg in mutette, velvety pumpkin and its chestnuts, a memorable vol-au-vent with sweetbread, a veal shank simmered at length. Each a glass of wine for which we leave the choice to the owner of the premises and it is perfect. For details, previous comments are sufficient on their own. Briefly, reservation required, do not hesitate to discover this place full of warmth and passion! Thank you to the bosses and Gaëtan for these moments!

No matter how much I look for something that's wrong, I can't find anything!
always 1 very warm welcome by the owner, 1 hello at the kitchen door for the Chef, as well as to the staff
at table !
1 pan of dumplings for my wife, 1 perfect plating, 1 hot plate, I tasted it, I closed my eyes.... it was good!
1 poached egg with cabbage cream for me, ditto, beautiful presentation, hot plate, I ate it slowly, I inhaled these scents, I was in heaven!
1 cod fillet with 1 curry sauce, for my wife, I smelled this sauce, and tasted it, what can I say, it's not 1 dish, 1 isolated fish, no sir! 1 nectar!!
1 veal with chanterelles and morels, so there, I closed my eyes, I brought my nostrils close, I traveled, in the middle of these little vegetables that surrounded it, I ate it in silence. without losing a single crumb!
I only have 1 thing to say to you, Go ahead, run there, reserve your cutlery, and above all, smell your dishes, and travel...
and all this with 1 glass of white for my wife, and red for me, which the owner makes us taste, always perfectly.
I won't talk about desserts because I love them all!!
See you soon

The menu is surprising! the atmosphere type "buchon de Lyon".
The dishes are good but it is spoiled by a wait between dishes far too long. There is a shortage of staff in the kitchen and one of the 2 people in the department speaks far too much.

Do not go if you think you find rabbit à la carte. No regional specialities of the Loire Valley either , the restaurant wants to be bistro Lyonnais but without real proposals Lyonnais.
However the setting is nice, but the kitchen remains very banal.
