About

A wonderful experience that contained the total picture. After a trip from Monaco to Barcelona we had already visited a number of good restaurants, but this one stood head and shoulders above. At first, we came to taste wine, but we decided to stay for dinner. We enjoyed a 5-course menu. We often had fish and shellfish in recent days. So, it was nice that we had a bit more variety here. After taking a seat, we were immediately offered wine and small snacks. For example, I ate a salmon roll with spinach. As a starter I had a special egg with different kinds of fish and a sorbet. I didn’t know what to expect (especially with the sorbet, egg and fish combination), but it turned out delicious. The egg in combination with the anchovies surprised me in a positive way. Then we also received a beautifully decorated plate with a piece of quiche with goat cheese. After that we were offered the main meal. In my case crispy pigeon with goose liver and a filling of various green vegetables including spinach and peas. While we were eating, they also came by with different own made wines and that for a very sensible price. The service was always very friendly in contrast to restaurants in city’s where everything needs to go very fast, here they were very calm and always gave a nice description of the food. Therefore, you could really relax and enjoy the beautiful view and the amazing meals. The interior was not really special. Simply white and very orderly. There didn't really have to be any eye-catchers or special things. That would only disturb the quiet environment and the beautiful view. As desert I took a simple but very tasteful chocolate cake.

We dined in this establishment one evening in September, during a weekend spent at Chateau Hospitalet. This gourmet restaurant offers all the codes of a Michelin star, in terms of room, table, service, flavor and talent. He doesn't have any stars, at the moment, but he will get it, without a doubt, if he maintains this level of quality and his demands. We opted for a 5-course menu (which actually has 5 + 3 appetizers) and we were not disappointed. The dishes are based on local products with subtle, interesting and emotional preparations. The dressings are sober and graphic, with an interesting harmony in terms of renderings. The explanations are precise and clear. We were amazed by the originality and the culinary twists that this surprise menu brought us. It was an excellent moment full of surprises, astonishment and taste emotions. Taste is part of initiatory journeys and this evening was one of them. If I had to talk about disappointment, I would undoubtedly mention the proposed wine pairing. It seems to me that the quantities served (1/4 glass) are not related to the price (72€). Having frequented other establishments, notably starred establishments, with the same price offer, the generosity is greater in terms of filling and I assure that my needs are not those of an addict. This is the first of the remarks. The second then concerns the discovery aspect of the wines. The “La Sauvageonne” rosé was an exceptional surprise. But it was the only one. There was no Wow effect afterward on the proposal. The red (Merlot, Cabernet Franc Malbec and Marselan) was without surprise and without real risk-taking. Perhaps the obligation to present wines labeled “Gérard Bertrand” limits the range of proposals a little. This was my only reservation because I was a little disappointed by the food/wine pairing. The service was efficient with people available, even if it seems that sometimes a little stress was present at the service level. Maybe someone was missing that evening. Everything remains, of course, positive. Thanks to Laurent Chabert and his teams for this beautiful culinary pilgrimage in Narbonne.

Cher Monsieur,

Perfect from beginning to end. This is the 3rd time we have been and it has remained exceptional. The food is exquisite, both in presentation and taste. Congratulations to the chef who is inspirational in his creative use of fresh and seasonal products. We took the 79 euro, three course 'Inspiration' menu at midday, (which is really 6 courses) and the 45 wine 'accord'. The service was perfect and one really gets the impression that the team genuinely wants everyone to have a good time. We particularly appreciated the generosity and lack of stuffiness. about the place Thank you to the whole team and our waiters who looked after us so well. Bon continuation.

The meal lived up to what we expected on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. on the other hand, we did not find the soul and a certain human warmth from the staff that we know in the other gourmet restaurants that we frequent in the region. Considering the price of a glass of champagne at Gerard Bertrand, the little candle on the dessert was not really appreciated...

Good morning
My wife and I had dinner at the art of living Thursday evening
The restaurant is very airy, the space between the tables is very respected and very pleasant with a very nice view onto a beautiful terrace
We noticed an enormous amount of work on the part of the entire team in terms of presentation, decoration and precision, both on the plate and those around us up to the reception.
We discovered the chef's cuisine which was very refined, while respecting local products and working in a slightly different way than we are used to seeing in other establishments which we feel, as much in the plate, that what surrounds us are people who are passionate about their work and who do everything possible to satisfy their customers
I recommend this unique experience to anyone who loves tableware.
We thank you very much for sharing with us this universe specific to you.
Wishing you all a very good career, because the team is still young and very professional
From Nicolas and Emy

A very peaceful and calm place with refined decoration but with a taste that will please as many people as possible. The service was very attentive and two very professional people took care of us, including an intern who really wanted to do the best and she was very efficient, she can gain confidence in herself.
We enjoyed the appetizers, desserts and bread, everything was worthy of a star. The food and wine pairing was exquisite and introduced us to original wines and other more well-known ones that proved to be of excellent quality. The chef's cuisine is seasonal and the products are local and sourced (and this is indicated on the menu), we appreciate that restaurateurs are increasingly putting forward a way of doing things that is as respectful as possible of the environment. We felt fully in tune with the values of the establishment and everything on the plate was divine, qualitative, perfectly seasoned.
Perhaps only one small disappointing point: the sequence of dishes was a little quick for our taste, even if we are aware that some may appreciate this speed, we like to take a little time to relax between each course. We ate quickly to eat hot, not necessarily because we wanted it to go quickly, perhaps we should take this into account in the future, especially after the main course and before desserts, perhaps a little break longer would be considered. We were only two couples in the restaurant, so we said to ourselves that maybe that was why the sequence of services was so quick (or maybe it was an unspoken rule for the lunch service which is I suppose faster than in the evening). I would like to point out that I am making this comment solely with the aim of sharing personal feelings and not to criticize the restaurant. Perhaps this rhythm corresponds to the request of a majority of customers, in which case I understand that the establishment conforms to the desire of the majority.
In short, that doesn't take away from the fact that it was perfect and that we will come back if we have the opportunity to come back to eat in Narbonne.

When booking we had reported an intolerance to shellfish but the dish served had been sprinkled with oyster juice; in fact we should have specified seafood but this nuance is not necessarily in everyone's vocabulary, especially as a foreigner. The post-meal was therefore painful but otherwise the culinary experience was worth the detour. The staff are really to be congratulated, the service borders on perfection and that is rare these days.

Dining at Art de Vivre is an experience, in every sense of the word. The staging is omnipresent, both in the service and in the setting or the content of the plate. The result is of a very high level and well deserves a first real star. I would have 2 small caveats. On the one hand, the setting which I found quite cold and on the other hand, the absence of a map. I admit that I don't really like surprises, and discovering the day's dinner according to the local availability of products and the chef's inspiration can be a little destabilizing. Not for the quality of the young chef whose mastery we must salute, but quite simply for personal taste. A very nice experience, therefore, to be reserved for special occasions.

The menu of the restaurant did not satisfy our expectations. The menu is defined by the chef and is “blind”. The staff asked for information only about allergies and intolerance but not about tastes. The staff is not close to the costumer needs. If a client does not eat something, an alternative is not offered.
We would not recommend this restaurant.

Dear Sir,
We read your comment with great sadness as you can see from the comments left from other clients, we receive felicitations on the food and service.
From the time of reservation to your arrival at the restaurant, we make a point of speaking with all our guests to understand their allergies as well as personal preferences, however this was not possible as your reservation was made on the sale day. Chef Laurent Chabert is attentive to all feedback and would have loved to offer you alternatives, but when they were offered, you no longer had an appetite.
We sincerely aplogise that the meal was not as yuo expected.
We hope to better guide you through our menu on a future occasion.
Kind regards,

The gastronomic restaurant at Château Hospitalet is well on par with the hotel's services. The chef offers a cuisine centered on respect for the product with perfect and sometimes original cooking (pork cooked in a fig leaf), very precise and appropriate seasonings.
The service (particularly the wine) is excellent with young, dynamic and competent staff expertly supervised by a very professional butler and expert in oenology. The wine list allows you to find what you're looking for in the different vintages from Gérard Bertrand's 17 estates.
A very beautiful table!

Very nice place and well received
Friendly service and good presentation
Nice attention for the birthday. THANKS
However, since the so-called evolution of the range we expected to eat something other than red mullet... (as an example and not the only one)
When I go to a restaurant of this “standard” I expect to eat something other than what I eat at home..
Even if well prepared, it’s a shame.
I could have justified the price. But the no...

Chef Laurent Chabert and chef sommelier Pierre-Alexis Mengual invite us on a cosmic journey in 7 times, in an intimate and evolving setting to the rhythm of the stars. A true exploration of the solar system and the Gérard Bertrand cellar, with exceptional wines.
The cuisine enhances the local terroir with remarkable finesse and precision. The dishes are executed and prepared to perfection. We discovered unique products and tasty alliances that delighted our taste buds.
All our senses were awakened and in communion with nature!
The Moon Room is also a fun and greedy way to learn more about biodynamics and the influence of planets on the living world.
A big thank you to the whole team, who transported us to his universe with so much passion. You've all been very attentive. You are translating the very essence of the Art of Living.

A very refined minimalist restaurant with lots of charm. A service with a small team at the top who answered our questions as the service progressed since we had a food and wine service in 7 stages. Culinarily, the extraordinary wines were incredible. We will come back in good weather to enjoy the incredible setting.

We chose the menu in 5 stages and our taste buds were full of it. Everything is refined, mastered with so much flavor. Full of lovely taste surprises. With a special mention for the pear dessert which was incredible.
Even if it was very good, a downside however on the beef/beetroot mixture where we found the beetroot too dominant.
The wines were very good too, it's a shame that a more affordable food and wine pairing was not offered. We stuck to wines by the glass.
The staff took great care.
Truly an excellent experience, we can only recommend.
