The service was excellent and very welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very clean and minimalist. The food was crafted with precision and each dish had a beautiful and delicate balance of flavors, textures, and colors. You can see the amount of work that is put into each dish. The description on the menu seemed simple, but the actual dish was complex and had depth. Just to give you an idea, for dessert it said Rhubarb tart with strawberries. What we received was a piece of culinary art with an amazing taste. We have been to other restaurants with exquisite descriptions on the menu but where we were not that satisfied with the actual dish. At Initial restaurant, we were surprised with each dish! We had the Menu "Initial" (58 euros) with 7 courses. There was even an extra starter at the very beginning and an additional small dessert at the end that was not listed in the menu, so actually 9 ! The servers even ask if there are foods you do not eat when you first come in, so that they can accommodate the food to you. The wine menu is also outstanding. Even the bread is delicious and served warm. At the end, the final touch of the servers and the chef graciously greeting us to say goodbye was wonderful. After having researched online for about an hour or so, we wanted to find a restaurant with a set menu of several courses because we enjoy this, but at the same time good quality/price ratio. We decided on this restaurant. We came for our wedding anniversary dinner and recommend this restaurant to those of you wondering if it will be good. This is a delightful, French gastronomic experience that you would see in magazines and food cooking shows. There were couples and friends that were also there. There were moments of calm, but also of talking and laughing. There was plenty of space around the tables so you do not feel you are too close to other tables. We have lived in Paris for 14 years and we have been to many restaurants (fine dining, cheap eats, mid-range). It is definitely one of the best we have eaten at. We will definitely be coming back.

Let me start right this way: if you ate worse at a Michelin star restaurant compared to this one, you already know what it means: a perfect menu, perfect dishes, perfect place and a perfect host and service. Each single course was cooked to perfection. A great combination of spices, herbs and fresh ingredients resulted into nice dishes with an impressive texture and haptic while eating. We could compare the marinated scallops with the same dish in a Michelin star restaurant and it was ... better here. Amazing skills of the Chef. For the main dish we had chosen the rack of lamb and the pigeon. Both were simply perfect. For the dessert we had a fantastic hazelnut and vanilla tart interpretation and we concluded: the whole menu was an great experience beside of the mass tourism places in Paris. The ambiance is slightly improvable: the lights are really bright and the noise from the kitchen was a little bit annoying (the beep beep beep of the oven I guess). The hosts are absolutely keen. A very warm welcome and a nicely Good-Bye included. We loved this place. Overall it is a MUST visit if you are in Paris.

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The restaurant itself has a very warm decor with all the wood, even though it has a minimalist vibe. The tables are miles apart by Paris standards and the music is understated yet adds to dining experience. We thought we would probably just get a bottle of wine (instead of the pairings) but we quickly determined that the pairings were a better value for us. Each course had a thoughtfully chosen wine, just the right pour. The smoked oyster course had an absolutely perfect wine to go with it. All were successful, but that really shined. The dishes were imaginative and well presented, but most importantly, delicious! Sometimes at a Michelin starred restaurant the presentation, execution and service are made more important than the taste of the food. Not the case here. Service was warm, friendly and professional.

Had lunch here on a Friday and it was just eight of us! Feel like somehow people are really sleeping on this place. I’ll preface this review by saying we do not typically frequent restaurants like this and we’re traveling from the US. We really love our food and eating out though. We each got the four course lunch menu for 38 euro and I opted for the wine pairing at 28 euro. Started with possibly the highlight of the meal which was these little fried potato balls and chickpea chips. Truly incredible. What followed was a phenomenal appetizer, a fish and protein course (choice of protein) and dessert. A few additional surprises like delicious bread and a second dessert treat. The wines were exceptional (especially the red that came with the veal). Overall, the food was beautifully executed and presented. Relatively straightforward and accessible too which is more our style compared to stuff that is artful to an extreme extent. Service was exceptional, of course. No detail left unattended to. I think lunch here is a must do and an exceptional value.

The menu consists of classic French cuisine (for example, sole meunière and ris de veau) in a modern, creative style. Every dish was flavoursome and well balanced. The wine flight was very well chosen. The restaurant has all the elements for a perfect evening. The staff, including the chef patron, were attentive, friendly and professional. The atmosphere was calm, with a gentle buzz of conversation. Thank you for a very fine meal: we look forward to returning.

I made a reservation for 5 people 6 weeks prior to the date and it was confirmed by the restaurant. 10 days prior to the reservation, I received a confirmation request for the wrong date. After calling them, they told me there was a private evening at the confirmed date without even suggesting an alternative or amends . Very unprofessional - after many years of patronage and recommendations, I won't go there again.

We had dinner at this restaurant. The place has a pleasant minimalistic look. There is only one menu. Amuse Bouche, two starters, first one scallops with melted butter, second one smoked lobster with morel sauce and ham, fish with asparagus , and a choice of three meat dishes. All dishes were excellent, taste and presentation. And a strawberry pavlova as dessert for an exquisite finish. Very friendly service. They try their best to explain everything in English. There is an English version of the menu and the owner (I presume) even translated the wine pairing for us. Thank you for that! The wine pairing hit the right notes. And the prices were reasonable too.

Dining at L” Initial was a delicious treat. Each course was beautifully presented and explained with surprising and delicate tastes. The cannelloni, marinated scampi with eggplant, foil gras, sea bass and Black angus steak were all exceptional. The chef also designed a special menu for my husband, a vegetarian, and each course was amazing. The staff is so professional, friendly and warm. This is special dining !

Excellent food. I found this restaurant through Trip adviser and was very happy with choice. The place is very clean. The service was nice, drinks and food served properly. As soon we were out of water or wine, waiters would fill our glasses right away. Waiters spoke little English but we didn’t mind since we visited theirs home town. Menus was in English and French. The food was not just delicious but also beautifully served. I would come back again and recommend it to anyone. If you love good fancy food, visit this restaurant.

Every course was fresh, delicious and presented well. Chose the wine pairings and every glass of wine was excellent. Servers were attentive and pleasant. Price was fair for the level of food. Menu was set except for the meat course where you had three choices. Other courses were seafood so may be a problem for those who do not like it.

Decent. Good price for 5 courses (including amuse bouche) at a Michelin star restaurant. I’m not sure why people rave about it, but we thought it was ok. We felt the reviews over promised and the restaurant under delivered somewhat based on our expectations. This experience makes me question what is required for a Michelin star. Service was absolutely excellent. Food was good but not a very memorable culinary experience. Not bad. Just not wow.

We got married in Paris and we chosed this restaurant for our dinner, the same day. We took the menu and the pairing wines. Everything was absolutely perfect. I think this was one of my best dinners ever. Every dish had a personal touch, a surprise. It was French cousine, but with a new interpretation. The wines were very interesting too, of a superior quality and matching the tastes of the food in a perfect way. The place is very simple and elegant, with a sacral atmosphere. The service is perfect, very gentle, respectful and friendly. Very Japanese. I really recommend L'Initial. Don't miss this experience, the prices are still affordable!

From start to finish, one of the best meals of our lives. We brought two picky eaters, and they loved it all. Just got back from 16 days in Italy, France and Spain. This was by far best meal! The value of the price is also AMAZING!

Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
