Recommended by friends who live nearby this is very much off the tourist track and we were the only non-locals on our visit. The service was friendly and although our French is passable they were very encouraging with our attempts. The decor of cosy dark wood, linen tablecloths and Chaumette branded plates all add to the feel of bygone days... More

Highly recommend this charming little traditional restaurant serving food in the best French tradition. You won't encounter many tourists as it is well-kept local secret - a favourite of the locals.

We have been in the 16th for 33 years and the food pickings here are slim compared to the rest of Paris. However, one of our now-favorite restaurants in all of Paris is Chaumette. A typical turn-of-the-last-century small and charming restauant, Almost all local french clients. Chaumette sports one of the more talented chefs around. The food is classic French... More

This is a typical, old fashioned French restaurant. The room is done out in wood panelling and there aren't many tables. The food was typically french with dishes such as pot au feu and ris de veau. The service was very good and the owner was very helpful. Highly recommended and would return.

Have eaten often over the years but recent evening meal suggests something's changed, and not necessarily for good. New ownership since April 1st, smaller menu, mainly pre-prepared starters, simpler dishes and not of best quality or that imaginative. What was once a colorful place has gone monochrome.

"Thank you" for your opinion even if it's in a wrong way for me (and for the restaurant). I'm sorry for your disappointment. Starters already made, that's right for the terrine but not for the others. May be not well accomplish ? Short menu is a choice for me to maintain quality products but not obvious this time. Simpler dishes,... More

I believe it's one of the best staff and service I've ever seen in Paris ! The food is delicious with typical french dishes like pot au feu !

The food and service was great as always. We got to the restaurant a bit early. This was a very rainy evening and the staff allowed us to come in and sit a bit until the opening time. They were very gracious. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Food preparation and presentation is outstanding.... More

The first time we went to this restaurant we had a great meal. We really loved it and although it was a bit pricey, it was definitely worth the money. A month later we brought some friends here and unfortunately the food was average at best (but still expensive). Maybe a different cook or so? Anyway, for this amount of... More

Staying at a nearby hotel we had passed this little bistro several times pausing to admire the menu, on our last night in Paris we decided to visit. & it was so well worth it, Very casual & unpretentious the food does the talking, the menu is entirely in French but the waitress will cheerfully translate any queries you may... Chaumette is a wonderful Bistro in a residential area of Paris. We happened across the restaurant when we were in Paris for the French Open tennis. It is small, cosy and full of atmosphere. There is outside seating however the interior is charming, with crisp linen tablecloths, classical books on shelves and family photos from bygone days. The food is... More

The Chaumette is a traditional French bistro near the New York Avenue in the 16th district of Paris. Photos of old bistros as well as modern art and antique style mirrors adorn the walls give the Chaumette a real atmosphere of an old fashioned Parisian bistro. The cuisine is flavoursome and copious, using fresh vegetables, meat and fish to create high quality traditional French dishes. Try a real French hotpot or some wild boar. The dessert menu is also varied and unavoidable tempting and the varied selection of wines may tempt you into trying something new.
