A legendary restaurant that has aged badly is very sad. A place I loved going to and now I am sad to see a drop in standards and an increase in prices.
This is unfortunately classic among restaurants that works. It goes down in level and then it continues to go down.

I am not a fan of Chinese food but I went alone with my family here. The decorations are great but I didn’t enjoy the food. Normally I don’t enjoy Chinese food so I had a fish it was a good portion. The good thing you’ll always find a seat as it’s really big. At moment there’s some work around the place.

I let my friend who is a regular order as he knew the best dishes. He ordered 5 or 6 small plates and it was by far more than we could finish. Fried taro, shrimp wonton, tofu cake with bacon and so much more. All delicious! This is a large restaurant, very much in the Chinese style and very popular for big formal events, but you can go quite casually as well. Staff is very attentive and helpful and pricing is good.
Only one caution: not all of the "to English" translations are accurate. It might be good to have a dictionary or French speaker with you if you feel adventurous (see my photo).

We went for dinner. Don't book on line as it didn't work. However they we're very accommodating and we waited only 10 minutes. They said it is best to call the restaurant for reservations. You do need to reserve. It looks like a movie set on the inside and the food was perfect. We we're so excited that we ordered too much. They were happy to pack it for us to take home. That is very unusual in France. Great place for a family or big group as they have some very big tables. Birthday celebration would be fun as the waiters gather around clapping and happy birthday is played in French, English and Chinese.

This place is gigantic. Not sure how many tables there are but I think you can fit an entire school. There are plenty of dishes to choose from the menu matching different wallet sizes. Taste wise, I wouldn't say its any better than other Chinese restsurants nearby. The venue is great for large groups and big events!

Food is pretty standard but the decor is to be seen. Sweeping stairway, fishtank kitsch. Service is good.

This once was one of the top Chinese restaurants in Belleville, unfortunately times are changing ... and the new glossy menu can't hide the fact that the food there has now become very mediocre.
There are many other Chinese restaurants to choose from in the area, Le President doesn't deserve your custom ... unless you're looking for frozen fast food with a distant Chinese twist :-(

Becks and I returned to Le President today after an absence of many, many years (maybe 5 or 6 years) and left disappointed. They used to offer an interesting choice of different dim sum menus for lunch. Now there's only one. It was good - apart from one or two pieces that didn't seem entirely cooked - but the 10 pieces didn't quite satiate me. I returned to the regular menu and erred in my choice of lemon chicken. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but Becks promised to have some. Ugh :-(. It was a plate of what I can only describe as plain chicken fingers - that looked and tasted pretty much like something I presume you could get in any frozen section of the supermarket - and a separate bowl of really nasty, artificial lemonish sauce. I wished I had stopped after the dim sum and ended my meal outside at one of the Tunisian/Algerian delicious pastry shops lining rue de Belleville.

The food was not typical, and not tasty.
It tastes like tourist trash.
This restaurant used to taste great 20 years ago, the spring roll were not made with rice paper , it tasted more like maroccan cigars.
The sauce was fake , we had to request the real nuoc nam sauce and we were served very small stingy quantity. The salad was served with French vinegrette sauce from supermarket.
Every plate was greasy. They refuse to change or add any ingredients.
The service was lousy.
It's an "autobus tourist" factory.

Old meat, old fish, veggies are at least 3 or 4 days old, everything is burnt and dry! Fun to see the restaurant itself but when the food comes you just wanna go home and enjoy that lonely cereal box left in your cupboard that motivated
you to go to the restaurant!!!!

As a Cantonese in Paris, I frequently suffer from those Asian traiteurs praised by French people as 'great Chinese food' but in fact those restaurants (if one can call them 'restaurants') make poison and insults but nothing else.
Instead of making a long long trip to go all the way to the 13e, Le President is a very good option for Cantonese food if you know what is Cantonese food, as unfortunately Le President also has some non-Cantonese food on the menu to please the amateurs. For example, it is extremely rare for the Cantonese or Chinese in general to eat nems...
Try the beef rice rolls (in the dim-sum section), sponge cake (dim-sum section), broccoli and 'liseron d'eau' (a kind of vegetable). You won't be disappointed.
Also Le President has probably one of the best interior design and comfortable environment comparing to other Chinese restaurants in Paris.
Of course Le President is not perfect - but not even that Michelin-one-star and ridiculously expensive Cantonese restaurant 'Shang Palace' in Shangri-La is perfect. However, the question here is even if the food at Le President is perfect to a Cantonese, is it considered to be perfect for a non-Cantonese?

The availability and kindness of the waiter / tress don't minimize the fact that the food is bad and expensive. ~15€ for a croque Monsieur is far above Average (~10 €) and apart from being close to the Champs Élysées, nothing justifies this price.
Even the French fries at McD's taste better.
