What a gem of a find! Stumbled across this place by luck whilst mooching around the area and so glad we did. Each had 3 course, myself the pate, lamb and chocolate mousse and mum the bone marrow, cassoulet and creme caramel. Beautiful food, though by far too much cassoulet!!! Rich, well cooked throughout. Accompanied by beautiful red wine and... More

The homemade cassoulet was a warm and savory remedy for a cold January night. The restaurant was full, the clientele local, and the staff welcoming. A serendipitous discovery while wandering the back streets near the Pantheon. This is a place for hearty Parisian dishes.

For over 20 years we have dined periodically in this Latin Quarter bistro (founded in 1872) which is beloved by students, locales and tourists alike. The old world atmosphere doesn't doesn't get any more authentic and prices, while higher today, are still a bargain. The only word of caution is to be careful with the wines. There are higher priced... More

We wanted somewhere with proper French food. And found it. Foie gras to die for and lovely confit canard. The profiteroles live up to every review. If I'd had space I would've order two!

I visited this restaurant before on previous trips to Paris. It has been 8 years, but I thought I would give it a try for lunch (I typically dined at dinnertime). Although I ordered by old standby, beef bourguiognon, it was not as good has I remembered it. The beef was tender but overall, it lacked flavor. The chocolate mousse... More

I have visited this place on a number of occasions over the last 20 years. Lunch this time with my wife and two teenagers. Duck confit, Duck breast and some steak. Chocolate something for desert. Just great classic bistro food and a great way to spend Friday lunch.

Friendly owners, has English on menu under French words. Food is pricy, drink is pricy. A bottle of still water is $7euro, portion is average. There is a 20% VAT tax for food and 10%VAT tax for alcohol at the end of the check + tips, so rather pricy.

This restaurant has a 1900s style interior, perhaps authentic. The menu consists mainly of traditional French dishes, which is a good thing. But I tried two of them. Crudités (i.e. rare vegetables) were acceptable, but no better than that: the carottes rapées had been chopped up into small sections, the tomatoes and cucumbers hacked into pieces rather than finely sliced.... This was my first meal in Paris so I was not sure what to expect. We chose this restaurant due to its proximity to the hotel. We had the lamb with potatoes gratin and also the streak and fries. The lamb was tender and sliced thinly. The potatoes gratin was delicious. The steak was a ribeye with great flavor but... More

My family and I had dinner at this place after a long day of walking around Paris. The location is nearby the Panteón and it was about the only place open on that Sunday evening. The food is good and the owners are nice and helpful.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
