A second visit in 5 years. Tucked away on the Ile St Louis Mon Vieil Ami is part of chef Antoine Westermann's small group of restaurants. It shows his Alsatian origins (Strasbourg) in the distinctive menu; the chef here is Wilfried Octuvan-Bazile. Vegetables are important, not just an afterthought. Try the Gravlax and Granny Smith apples warm salad, the mashed... More

How can you not love this place!? Situated on the ultra romantic and alluring Ile Saint Louis and serving modern no nonsense cuisine in a tightly artsy interior setting--one cannot help but feel special and oh so sophisticated. So enjoyable was the meal (and special company) that we closed down the place in the wee hours of the morning.

Ugh......yet again the front of house staff are let down by the kitchen. My starter of fois gras was nice, partner had mackerel (warm), rest looked like leeks and hard boiled eggs was not nice. Mains....I had chicken with pumpkin and bacon bits...chicken was nice and succulent....the pumpkin bit was tasteless, would never guess there was pumpkin or anything else... More

We were invited by Parisienne friends who told us this was a typical Parisienne restaurant which is not known to many Parisiennes - an absolute delight! The foie gras starter was outstanding!

We made several visits to this small place which is one of some very good options on Ile Saint Louis near our hotel. As one would expect, tables are small and closely spaced and service is at a deliberate French pace. The wine list is varied and reasonable (one evening I had a bottle of Vendange Tardive after the meal)... More

There were three of us and we were the first to arrive. This small place quickly filled up and in an hour people were turned away. We all ordered the special, white fish with really good vegetables in a tasty broth. The baba rum for dessert was especially good. There was only one waiter valiantly working to take everyone's order... More

A small, rather cosy restaurant on the island of Ile St Louis. In the centre of the city, yet relaxed and away from the crowds. Service OK. The meals very well prepared. I had a roasted veal that was really excellent. Wine list somewhat sparse.

We stayed at the Hotel Saint Louis and they recommended this restaurant. A small restaurant with tables on both walls. The food was very fresh and limited menu but while heavy on vegetables it had very nice options for the main course. The service was very good. I would note that there happened to be three other American couples in... More

Had a wonderful meal of Leeks and Lemon with Cod, husband had the Shoulder of Lamb. Every thing was cooked to perfection. Red berry with strawberry sorbet for desert. This is a must for dining in Paris.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
