Enjoyed a good family meal- clean, efficient service with good food at normal prices. Situated centrally with good links to metro and looking onto the 'Bastille place', opposite the Bastille Opera.

Service so terrible there was no service. Sat down at an outside table and waited for about 20 minutes before walking into the restaurant to order at the bar instead. A shocked (shocked that I spoke to her) waitress told me that i would of course be served at my table and that someone would be out immediately. Sat back... More

When you get to Paris, every place you walk there is a big billboard full of happy people eating nicely cooked steaks at this lovely chain. But no, it's not like that. People don't speak english. They understand everything you say in english, but they decide it's better to answer you in French. No problem, I'm in their country, so... More

I didn't select this dinner venue. Imagine pizza hut of old (Australian style in the 70s) Dad can get a beer mum a nasty wine and everyone can have steak and chips but everything is in french ;) Its a chain and it shows. It could be worse. It certainly could be better.

The food is very typical but decent. The staff are very polite and nice. If you are looking for something quick it is fare. It is though a bit expensive (15 euros for a burger and 18 euros for a Caesars salad)

I had dinner with a friend and being that he spoke French (I don't ) the staff was extremely nice to me. I mention this because I see people say don't go there if you are English. My suggestion is to attempt to speak some French in France when approaching people, make the effort and I believe people are much... More

After a long day at work all I wanted was to eat an hamburger, and so I did at Hippopotamus! Actually, the food is good, but like somewhere else! Anyway, I recommend it.

We loved this restaurant because it reminded us the TGI Friday's decor and the food was great. If you want a medium cooked stake, say "medium well" because it will be raw if you don't.The desert was served with coffee and the prices were very ok for expensive Paris.. Definitely worth it!

Staff are extremely rude and act as if they can't speak English when they serve you. They serve French speakers first and ignore your table. Food is ok, but service is very slow and it's all a bit tacky. The toilets are disgusting. Not hygienic. A very bad experience, when complained - our waiter who didn't know what we were... More

Pleasant staff. You should not be desappointed by the quality of the food matching with a good standard. Good place to go after a show at the Opera facing the restaurant.

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
