I have just come back from having dinner at Gallopin. It's one of those cases, where writing about the meal isn't enough. The food was good, well presented, and abundant. The service on the other hand, was another story. First, our server had no clue...about some of the items on the menu and he seemed confused about drinks as well. When I asked about one of the meat dishes on the menu, he looked as if he had no clue what I was talking about. I asked how the meat was cooked. Grilled? Boiled? Seared? Stewed? Broiled? Mind you, I asked in French and in English. And I know French decently. He said he didn't know. But maybe it was cooked in the oven. Oh, well, I ordered it and it was boiled. It was good, but I believe servers should know what is on the menu. One of the meats in the dish was also missing - on the menu there were three meats described, and the dish only had two. Others have said the service was slow. That too, is true. Servers are kind, though, just really unprepared. I ordered a dirty martini, the server looked at me as if I had asked something out of this world - he had never heard of it. The maitre said he knew what I was talking about, and then he delivered a lemon drop martini. Again, good, but just not what I had asked. The bottom line is I would not go back. Food is good many places in Paris. Prices are ok, we got a discount through booking via TripAdvisor. They need to put their sh##t together.....More

Sorry about late review. Visit Paris ever year and have a reasonable knowledge of the area and standards. So when this place was recommended by hotel we decided to give it a go. In a word FANTASTIC. Every thing from ambience to food and value...for money was perfect. Suggest you book via The fork app which allows 20% discount. Eric was the manager that night and was very helpful and knowledgeable. Can't wait til Feb for my next visit. See you soon EricMore

The dining room in this restaurant is very attractive with rich wood paneling. Service was very good. I had a seared tuna over tomato sauce with onions and my wife had a pleasant gazpacho. Main Course for me was a well prepared sea bream/dorado that...had been toasted whole but only partially filleted. Vegetables on side were swimming in butter (not ideal). All in all a positive experience although there was that Parisian essence of cigarettes which detracted from the meal.More

First time @Gallopin. The website made it very appealing, and the place proved to be a delight to the eye, when you love Art Deco. With started with cocktails, original mixed and delicious, really enjoyed them, then went for 3 courses meal, all fantastic. Only...two disappointments: * It took more than 45 minutes to get our starters coming, but after that the service was swift. * The option for wine is small glass of wine or a full bottle, no half bottles, no carafe, which most brasseries and restaurants in Paris do. When only one persons drinks, and want to enjoy a bit of wine, it makes it a difficult choice. Still, overall, really good time and enjoyed the place.More

A get together here with Parisian and American friends, and I have to say that the restaurant and it's staff hit all the right notes. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly, and even though I was on a French speaking table, I did notice...that they took care of foreign diners with due attention. My hosts remarked that since the unfortunate incidents which have taken place in Paris in recent times, they do take better care of their tourists, and are moving away from the reputation for rudeness and snobbery which had been a bit of an issue at times in Paris. Our meal featured among other classics, foie gras (sorry.. not very pc but delicious) escargots bourgignon, a perfect steak with pepper sauce, frites to die for, and all washed down with a suitable flow of Chablis and Margaux. As if the meal needed crowning, my meringue topped tarte au citron, did the job perfectly. I honestly don't know how this restaurant rates amongst other typical Brasseries, but I found it to be very pleasant indeed. No real hitches or complaints. Not the most adventurous menu, but extremely competent and good value.More

The restaurant is nice, but there were many mistakes. 1) they forgot to bring the water, although we ordered at the very beginning 2) they served us the wrong dishes, I ordered gambas, they served me a steak, so they had to change and my...partners were waiting to start eating 3) I ordered crème caramel salé, they served me caramel ice cream , they had to change the desert 4) the gambas portion was very little, only 3 small gambas , with very small portion of rice, which is not acceptable for the price of the dishMore

Brasserie Gallopin near the French Bourse / stock exchange was founded in 1876. The interior reflects the atmosphere of the good old days of culinary tradition , the French classics in wine and food : Paris Brest as a dessert, Alsacian baeckoffe as a main...course and burgundy snails as a starter. The lively atmosphere on a Saturday eve, the waiters in black and white make the picture complete. The audience was mainly 50+ Booking is recommended and allows you a 20% discount. TecommendableMore

Our hotel recommended this brasserie. Our service was initially very prompt, but later felt ignored (we poured our own Champagne refills!). When asked to order, we were told they were out of the lobster for 2.Next. I tried to order the chef's suggestion (from a..."flag" on the table, but was told they did not have that. Food was good, but overall experience was average, at best.More
