This place is not very big and is very popular. We had to accept a 9.15 booking to get in...but the wait was worth it. We tried to communicate in French and I think this was appreciated...but when we struggled the waitress had very good English to ensure no misunderstandings. The place is typically French and the food was fantastic.... More

Great and efficient service, my partners steak was so tough it was inedible and at 30€ i would expect not to have jaw ache trying to get it down. My lamb shank was also quite tough and very salty. The waitress was very skilled in helping people choose wine. Overall overpriced for what we experienced especially compared to other restaurants.

Great food and great ambience. I highly recommend this place but make sure you book ahead of time as there were a lot of walk-ins who were turned away.

I came here for my birthday with my sister. I was greeted with complimentary champagne. I had been here 4 years ago and was glad to see it hadn't changed at all. My favourite starter wasn't on the menu this time, the egg cocotte however they cooked it for me regardless! The main and wine was lovely also. Staff was... More

Went there on a Thursday evening. Busy but not crowded. Very pleasant and friendly waitress. Not an extensive menu but a good range of choices. Veal Rib was great as was the Lamb Shank - Pain Perdu dessert was superb. Wine selection was good and reasonable. Even got a small bowl of haribo with the bill!! Highly recommended!!

We celebrated our engagement in Chez Toinette. My fiance ate steak, it served with tiny potatoes, baby carrot, onion and pencil beans. My plate was a duck breast. Everything was awsome, my dear- he is a cooker too-said thank you the chef, and shaked his hands.Thank you so much for this perfect dinner!

We had an excellent meal at this small, quaint restaurant on a side street below Sacre Couer Basilica in Montmartre. We were greeted warmly and our waitress, Marion, spoke fairly good English and tolerated my poor French gracefully. Both entrees, the duck and salmon, were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The desserts, including half cooked chocolate cake with ice cream... More

My wife and I were looking for a place to have nice dinner in Montmartre when this place was recommended to us. When we asked for a table we were told they were booked for the night so we ready to leave when the waitress called us back saying someone canceled, how fortunate for us!!! The place small and cozy... More

Spoke with some locals about a good place to eat and they suggested Chez Toinette. So very fortunate to have come across this restaurant.

Lovely attentive waitress. Cosy with a nice vibe. Starter was a lovely melted cheese and honey dish unfortunately let down slightly by a bit of burnt toast. But fantastic main, kidneys in a mustard sauce, excellent. Strange thing to mention but the nicest sparkling water I've ever had as well. Would definitely go again.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
