Awesome experience! We opted for Chez Marcel by chance and what a pleasant surprise! Very good food (I highly recommend the pork carpaccio), fun atmosphere, amazing decor (you really feel like being in a Bouchon from Lyon) and fair price. The wine of the house (White Macon was maybe too good...so we drank more than we should have but did... More

Just across the street from the hotel I stayed at, and highly recommended by the staff at Hotel Le Six, was this delightful restaurant. I went my first night in Paris and loved it so much that I went back the next night. On my own, I wanted a place that was welcoming and friendly with great food. The staff... More

Montparnasse is a nice very "French" quarter, and this is the place one like to find in Paris: full of local people with great atmosphere and good French food. The service is informal and fun, and they came with day's recommendation that I purchased immediately. First, Tagliatelle made from sepia (attention: not "tagliatelle with sepia" but actually tagliatelle made from... More

Direct in front of our hotel Le Six we found the Restaurant Chez Marcel. This is a typical french Brasserie. The place small but very cosy. The staff extreme heartily you will feel you welcome for the first second. The food was excellent. Traditional french cuisine with finest ingredients. This restaurant is worth a visit and I can recommend it.

We asked our driver "if there is only 1 restaurant in Paris that we should eat at, where is it?" "Chez Marcel". We were in Paris for 6 days, and could only get reservations for one of our nights because they were booked solid....they actually squeezed us in for an early seating because we are polite Canadian's and there is... Bumped into this tiny restaurant last night and had one of the best dinners by myself ever. If you need to go out for dinner alone service speed is often the main criteria. In Chez Marcel however you not easily feel alone. Squeezed between the other guests you easily feel part of the whole group. If you look for an... More

Seriously thought we had crashed a private party but within 15 min we were special guests of the party. Our fellow diners were talking, advising, translating and generally being very gracious towards us. Food amazing and staff incredible - the waiter sat down beside us and made sue we understood the whole menu.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
