Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fresh bakery and croissants were amazing! Especially the chocolate croissant! Service was good and polite! It was local so the walk was quick. A short line but worth it. If I was looking for fresh bread I would have bought many things but only was...on the hunt for breakfast for me and my daughter!More

Josephine was one of my top bakeries when living in Paris and I still make sure to pay a visit. You will agree when you taste their baton bread- it is incomparable to anything else.

Ok. Not perfect. Perhaps we had greater expectations and that's why we are quite disappointed. The woman that worked there çould have been friendlier with tourists.

Such a cute shop with friendly staff! We stopped in to get a quick lunch, and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised to learn they had a meal deal including a drink, sandwich (we ordered ham, cheese and butter) and dessert for 8.50 euro....Best sandwich we had on our trip. Huge portions. Very Reasonable prices. Highly recommend!! :)More

We were in a bit of a rush to find something nice for breakfast - called into this place and got what we wanted - handier (and less expensive) than many of the sit down options nearby. Friendly owner and staff.

I've been visiting the Josephine Bakery for 10 years. I hadn't been there for 5 years because we had rented out our nearby flat. The baguettes and croissants are just as good as ever. Ask for the absolutely outstanding "Tradition" baguette - you won't be...disappointed. If you are from the UK and missing your breakfast toast (all the French supermarket sliced loaves seem to have way too much sugar in them) try the Josephine sliced bread. It toasts beautifully. The shop gets really busy, particularly at lunchtime when students queue for the sandwiches and cakes - but the queue always moves. The lady who used to serve me 10 years ago is still there. The bakery closes at weekends - we used to go to "Carton" on those days. Carton was good, but not as good as Josephine. Sadly Carton is now closed. I'm not sure where I shall go at weekends. Perhaps just wait outside Josephine for it to open again on Monday!More

We called in here whilst shopping, it’s a really lovely looking cafe, the food looked amazing with a massive selection of sandwiches, pastries and cakes. We ordered sandwiches, baguettes and took a few cakes away with us. €16 for large eclair. The problem wasn’t the...food but more the woman who served us, she came across as rude and unfriendly, she was completely different with the locals. We just didn’t feel welcome and we hadn’t felt like that anywhere else in Paris. Definitely wouldn’t recommend, there are better patisseries nearby where you can enjoy your lunch without being scowled at.More

Oh my! Came across the bakery while trying to put together my own “food tour” for my family. We arrived after lunch yesterday. Small inside with maybe only seats for 4-5. We almost missed the store with the construction going on out front but we’re...glad we didn’t! We ordered a croissant, brownie, cranberry oatmeal cookie & some delish chocolate item (no idea what it was called). The woman who helped us was extremely pleasant, super helpful & didn’t seem annoyed with our limited English. We’d highly recommend.More

As a trained chef and croissant FANATIC, I went on a mission: I literally biked all over Paris - through each of its arrondissement - looking for the best croissant I could find. I sampled well over 50 croissants and, HANDS DOWN, the croissant at...Josephine Bakery is the VERY BEST croissant I had! It was perfectly created - flaky and tender on the inside and golden flaky perfection on the outside with excellent flavor, texture, color, moisture and buttery perfection!!! Even better: the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Truly a gem! (We tried several items when we were at Josephine's and all of them were absolutely delicious and perfect in every way!)More
