Our hotel was around the corner, and since we were freezing, we wanted to eat a cute french place nearby. We are so lucky to have found L'Acanthe! The food is delicious, and the ambiance is perfect, but most of all, our hosts Christopher and William are the best! They made us feel welcomed, and comfortable, and made our dinner... More

We got to our apartment on Rue de Rivoli too early and were hungry and tired. We stopped at this little corner restaurant for something to eat for breakfast. The menu was very limited, but we ordered an omelet and some croissants and bread along with tea and some coffee. The young server was just as nice as he could... More

Stopped for supper after the Sunday concert at St. Merry Eglise which is nearby. I chose a beef dish while my husband had the "Panache de Poissons." We shared the creme brûlée. Attentive, not obtrusive service; very enjoyable.

We were headed from Notre Dame to the Louvre and needed a quick but substantial lunch for the amount of walking we knew we had ahead of us in the museum. After a bit of wandering the menu at L'Acanthe sounded good and was affordable compared to the neighboring places. The menu was short and simple and a few of... More

As we usually do, we chose this restaurant because we were in the neighborhood and were ready to eat. What a fine choice! We started with onion soup and followed with a tasty pork loin rib with mashed potatoes and a sauce that made us want to lick the plate. But the highlight was an unusual apricot and rosemary creme... I don't know what it was about L'Acanthe: In hindsight it felt very French but without the stiffness of Parisian restaurant "institutions" and other "popular" places we tried in the following days. They provided good food, nice ambiance, reasonable price and friendly staff. Thank you!!

Best meal ever! We tried the snails as you do when your from Australia, and in Paris, not bad at all, don't rate snails but certainly rate the sauce they come in. But our mains of pork and duck were absolutely stunning. Would recommend this place to anyone! Great cozy little place, friendly staff and great French food. Cheers cob,... More

Great little place, the waitress was so funny and energetic and was complementary of our poor French. Loved the food, basic, interesting ( snails in picante sauce) and the salmon and then beef was great. Wine was reasonable as well.

We came here as two couples, in the hopes that we would have a lovely meal after reading good reviews. We were quite disappointed when the mains came out in about 5 minutes flat (pre made potato bake, lukewarm meat and a small, plain salad). The flavour was nice, but it certainly didn't live up to the price we paid.... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
