As Le Valentin is close to the hôtel where we stayed, my wife and I had breakfast there practically every day during our recent trip to Paris. A delightful restaurant, wonderful pastries and other food, and lovely staff. A classic of Paris.

We went there for a reception for our son's wedding. There were six (!) cakes - all of them great, and the centerpiece, that our son and his French bride cut even had fireworks coming out of the sides. Served with champagne, with comfortable seating on sofas, the service was wonderful - respectful, friendly and unobtrusive. It was one of... More

Le Valentin is a fabulous café. The pastries are second to none, and the lunch dishes are also good. These pastries proves why the French bakers are world-class. Le Valentin has a nice atmosphere and situated in the charming passage Jouffroy. Highly recommended.

We stopped here following the trip advisor reviews. My other half desperate to go to a traditional French patisserie. We were not disappointed! Don't expect to get a cheap meal but do expect to get fantastic tartes, pastries, gateauxs! We had two lovely ones although they were out of one of our original choices as they're made daily on site... More

Everything in this place is charming. Excellent reception, amazing cakes and even a real menu of tea. Authentic french food, creative desserts in a magnificent ambiance and still in total simplicity. WOW!

...and I've been to Paris three times. I happened in on my last day this past November (over Thanksgiving 2016) and it was sooooo frigidly cold - the onion soup was so delicious, without being too salty. The sisters-in-law who operate and serve food (the one sister owns it with her husband, who cooks, I believe she said) were very... More

We were fortunate to find this place on our walks though the passages and arcades of Paris. It is an excellent place to stop for lunch. We enjoyed the best Quiche Lorraine ever! Then enjoyed pastries and coffee. The staff were very patient with our limited French but we were happy we persevered. The owner told us that everything is... More

This salon welcomes with a cosy atmosphere for a relaxing visit between all the sightseeing and allows to recharge one's batteries. Staff is friendly and helpful (even if one has only basic knowledge of French ;) and allows one to sit (even for longer) and just relax. Sweets are excellent- best macarons we have tried while in Paris - and... More

What can I say ? I was fortunate to stumble across Le Valentin back in 2014 by accident. I wrote about it on Tripadvisor. It was intrigue from the passage and stumbled across this salon full of sweets and delights. I never forget it and took these moments back with me to the U.S. to share with my family. 2... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
