Exquisite dining in a petite restaurant. Top-notch service, excellent cuisine and most interesting desserts — in particular the Mousse au chocolat. A standout was one of the best oysters dishes I have ever tried, Trois huîtres "Gillardeau" gratinées, crème fraîche normande. We tried the duck and the fish of the day, both excellently paired with a Pinot Noir and a... More

Do not let the size of the premises rebuff you, the dishes are as comforting as the decoration. The portions are big and the skills in the kitchen are well worth the trip. An American take of a classic bistrot menu, modern presentation, great products and a lovely wine list. A must try in this area.

Went here with some friends -- which isn't easy as this place is closed Sat/Sun! But we took a late seating for Friday and didn't have any issue (made the reservation a week in advance). The place is small and very cozy but not too packed together like a lot of bistro's in Paris, so that was nice. Service was... More

La Bourse et La Vie—a bistro run by a celebrated chef, in this case the American Daniel Rose—is traditional enough to be renowned for its crème caramel. But its foie gras over artichokes was also welcome and the duck—perfectly crisp on the outside, moist within—may have been the best main dish I had on a recent trip.

French classics without the fuss and heaviness. Beautifully decorated small dining room that's warm and inviting. The ingredients are top shelf. A simple poireaux vinaigrette was a taste sensation for my tastebuds... I followed it up with the Pot-au-feu de veau. EXCEPTIONAL. The finishing touch was a mousse au chocolate. Divine. One of the best I've ever had in Paris... More

Had the fish of the day - a wonderful hake - a delicate white fish - cooked with fennel onions pineapple in a delicious light sauce. Followed by a rich chocolate mousse. Service was excellent and friendly. Fish was 28 euros at lunch.

The meal begins with a plate of gourgeres-- choux pastry made with cheese, and fabulous. The food here is well-prepared, with depth of flavor along with a beautiful presentation. Servers are thoroughly bilingual, and charming. We live in the neighborhood, which has a lot of good mid-range restaurants like this. This one stands out for its cuisine.

Had a very good meal here. Pleasant service, nice specials, superb wine reco. It was a little odd that for the first hour we were there, it seemed like every table was speaking english. However, by the time we left, it seems like the locals had gotten there and the tourist crowd thinned. Not cheap, but afforable priced. Tiny menu... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the "Hungry Traveler" food blog and it didn't disappoint. It's a small cozy little restaurant on a side street that you wouldn't think much of if you passed by however, the food was amazing!! The waiter spoke fluent English which was fantastic since my French is very limited. He explained the menu and... More

Tiny restaurant with a lot of class. The wait staff was so friendly . The food was home style and generous portions. Southern hospitality in Paris!

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
