We ordered steak (2 different cuts and preparations) and all 5 were truly the toughest cuts of meat any of us ever tried to eat. Clearly something went wrong with the meat order! Our 2 daughters could not cut them at all even with a sharp steak knife! They were incredibly stringy and there were long strands of fibre(?) that... More

Dear MarylandBogart, Thank you for taking the time to put two bad reviews and our restaurant. Why such a determination to damage our restaurant image? Best regards More

Did they simply have a bad night? Judging from the other reviews, this might be the case. But for our family group of five, the evening that we shared at this restaurant will long be remembered as an astonishingly bad experience. All of us had steak of one kind or another, four of us judged what we were served to... More

Tucked away hence you do need to take some effort to find it. The manager was so friendly as was all the staff. Look for Spiros, always willing to help. When we arrived the indoor sitting was full, but we sat outside first and when there as a table inside we moved in. Do try their discovery menu which is... More

While staying near Rue Mouffetard, we happened upon this restaurant. We decided to dine there, based on the menu outside, but also how beautiful and quaint the atmosphere appeared. The decor is what you think of when you think of old Paris. Beyond that, the food was very good. I had the Salmon, it was excellent, as well as the... More

Not often do I come across a restaurant where all elements of atmosphere, food/drinks and service have been absolutely optimised to create a beautiful experience. So this place is exceptional and a rare find. The whole evening was enjoyable and a memorable experience, and the fact that prices were so reasonable made it even more so! Food was wholesome and... Our hotel recommended La Maison and we were pleasantly surprised. We loved the decor, found the service excellent and the food very good. May we note that Hemingway reputedly lived there.

My wife and I dined at this restaurant on our last night in Paris and it clearly was the finest dining experience that we had while in Paris. The restaurant is attractive with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was very cordial and offered menus in English or French. All of our food was exceptional. What was most surprising was... Came well recommended through trip advisor. Good service. Food was good, not excellent. My rabbit was a bit dry but otherwise well prepared. Typical old Paris atmosphere.

Really nice food and great atmosphere. The place is quite well located and the service is also very good. I had the set menu and was a good price for what you get. Would go again.

On a quiet street, usually full, stone walls, beamed ceiling, very helpful staff....and excellent food. The ingredients are superb, prepared carefully, but not pretentious. Our seafood dish was creative and tasty. Appetizers and desserts were great. Best of all, Madame Proprietress is charming and helpful. This was a relaxing evening in Paris, and we will return.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
