I am reviewing this restaurant again. Why you may ask? As they we're here originally (rue Hector Malot) then moved to the rue de Charenton and then back here once again some things have changed. The chef who is as great as any French chef spends days cooking, weeks finding products and as much time using his intelligence and imagination... More

There are bad restaurants, terrible restaurants and then there is Shan Gout. I've been to Paris 9 times and had my share of rude service and bad Asian food. But this is just jaw-droopingly bad food and the service is not just rude. It was get-up-and-scream bad. It is probably the worst restaurant my wife and I have ever been... More

One of the best Chinese food in Paris. Having been to Paris for many years this is the authentic to date. The dumplings are worth the visit alone. Unfortunately the owner wants to turn the place into a noodle joint, which is a pity as his range of culinary skills is excellent.

A homely restaurant run by a couple. Husband cooks in a open kitchen and wife serve the food and takes orders. Food is fresh and made to order. The home made noodles in sesame sauce is good.

We had lunch at Shan gout last summer. On the plus side: good fried ravioli, not too greasy. Beef was tasty. On the down side: our waitress was not helpful at all, she would not explain any dish and she seemed interested only in giving details about their wines - we do not drink wine. The chef was extremely rude,... More

I had read the disappointing comments but as a friend invunted me there, I was there with that friend last week for dinner: NOTHING Chinese :( In what kind of Chinese restaurant are you proposed a starter-main dish-desert kind of meal?? No sharing?? But more importantly, food was not acceptable to even average standards: overcooked, hard to chew and big-chunked... More

Service is good, food was tasty and interesting adaptations of typical Chinese dishes. Being of Asian it's just hard to justify some of the prices simply for nice presentation. A very nice western Chinese restaurant though.

We went to the one on rue de Charleston. They only provide set dinner, no a la carte. The chef had a very hot temper and throwing the cookie wok. But his cooking is very delicate. Food is unbelievably good! I will definitely go there again next time.

In spite of its previous ratings and recommendations on this side and being considered as Tres chic by the likes of Fooding , the place is best avoided. Having reserved we arrived at 8.30 to find the restaurant empty. Outside decor grotty at best. Inside ok but gets noisy and claustrophobic when it is even half full. Weird service ,... More

I wrote an enthusiastic review for Shan Gout a few months back, but I'm sad to report that my second experience there was quite disappointing. After only a few months, the décor is already showing signs of use - chipped paint, elegant tableware replaced by less-elegant tableware. The once very basic and original menu has been replaced by a much... More
