We visited Paris over a weekend in the summer and stumbled across this place on a Saturday night. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but we were starving and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad we did! The service was very quick but understated, and the host was very patient with my rusty French. We... More

We went with a Parisian friend who lives a block away. Outside tables on the Place de Commerce + restaurant located at Place de Commerce metro stop, in a neighbourhood where many Parisian live. We went on a week night and the room was warm, lively and bustling. Not only popular with neighbourhood dwellers, but shop keepers on the street... More

we took the lunch menu in this restaurant and all of them were very tasty! Only 18Euro for a main course and dessert. The house wine is the best i had during my trip in Paris. The staff were friendly and made his recommendation in his standard! We liked it alot! The atmosphere was also very good! Beautiful deco and... More

This place is small, but very cosy. The maid (the blond one) is very helpful, nice, and smiling. She speaks english and she also tried with a bit of italian, this made us feeling like home. The food and the wine were good: we took the formula 'du commerce'. One salad, but i suggest to put more tomatoes, and a... More

For a quintessential french bistro in a delightful village setting, you cannot go past cafe du commerce. We enjoyed lunch where the melon and jambon salad was juicy and fresh, the sausage and lentil plat was sublime (especially with the delicious mustard), the steak tartare and mash potato melted in the mouth, the service was attentive, friendly and extremely efficient... This was suggested by our hotel and when we looked at the menu were a little disappointed, since we wanted something a bit more "up scale." However, the food was excellent, and the service attentive. It felt very French especially since the menu did not have English translations.

We found this restaurant in 2000 and were delighted to find it unchanged and still offering superb food, service and value. All four of us enjoyed a superb three course meal with wine. The atmosphere is wonderful and the ambiance could be used for a Poirot film. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and service and for a reliable... More

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighbourhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
