La scène Thélème Lightness and transition to diamond Generally I browse the geographic area and the menu but yesterday I perused the internet. In Paris you are inundated with choice and deciphering the ideal is truly challenging Though I favor those that have garnered previous accolades the sifting still demands comparison between the classic and the novel I finally settle with Scène de Thélème bathed in theatrical proximity The introduction is simplicity of atmosphere having the core fused with lightness of zen The walls and the table display nature in a short dancing duet teasing the palate as a precursor of the chef’s culinary ballet Valentine, the Sommelière , proposes and describes masterfully the wine in a hug with the elements. The Condrieu casts its delicate embrace around the amuse-gueles and sets the tone to visual romance and dainty expectation of the following elements The lips twitch without deception in anticipation of the successive arrivals that coat the digestive lining with grace : each course tries to outwit the next with its freshness and individual textured attibutes Nothing is spared as you are propelled into a galaxy of sublime integration of the ingredients The cast includes Amy, attentive to all facets of the service, Felix the choreographer of the presentation and Yoshitaka the enigmatic maestro The detour only craves an encore. So we booked the Euro 85 4 course dinner - which in fact was really 7 courses! All of it was world class - as someone else said deserving of more stars than just 1 and very good value for what you get. It was French food with Japanese touches and it was served in good quantities, not your nouvelle nonsense. Service was attentive but not nosy and we had a very enjoyable evening - we will definitely be back. The best food we had in Paris.

A well-deserved Michelin star. The meal was outstanding, with service to match it. I had the 4 course meal which was really close to 7 courses given the amuse bouche, appetizer and extra dessert. The flavors are light, yet punchy. Super thoughtful flavor combinations that channel Chef's Asian roots without making it feel muddled or strange. It all fit well. The highlights: 1) hummus amuse had hints of miso and was mind-blowing 2) chawanmushi was delectable, I could have eaten a whole pot of it. 3) fish (chef's signature dish) had perfectly seared skin and perfectly cooked fish with a light and zappy beurre blanc 4) pavlova was beautifully crafted and very tasty.

I am not sure what to say about 1 Michelin star for this restaurant. Staff is good. The decor is surprisingly nice. The wine selection is good (but not exceptional). Ant then the 4-course menu. All was good and to some degree, surprising taking into account Japanese chef. One would expect a fusion of Japanese and French tradition. But there was nothing from Japan and some surprising twists from traditional French cuisine. It was good, exciting, but perhaps a bit too heavy. Rich tastes lacking some freshness. But that is my opinion only.

Dear SimplyDrapi, Thank you for taking the time to write your review about our restaurant. We are delighted to read you had a nice experience in our gastronomic restaurant. You thought the decoration was nice, also the service and food.Maybe you would be more surprise by the food , but actually we are not a fusion restaurant as you expect , but a french cook by a japanese chef with light touch of japanese flavours. We have noted your comments about food and the wine list , to improve and make it better. Hope to welcome you for next the occasion. Best regards. Diane Blanch Restaurant Manager

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at La Scene Theleme in a rather gloomy yet traditional ambiance where the ornament's goal is to make you feel at home. The menu opens up with some amuses that were satisfactory but lacking depth for the standard of a Michelin-starred institution. The tartlet that followed performed a touch better. The three main dishes were quality products exhibiting the ever-present Japanese touch close to the chef's heart. The succession of monkfish, lobster and lamb offered a refreshing progression throughout the evening but the pace fell short of the expectations that we had for a restaurant of that standing, namely the sides and sauces were lacking some sort of complexity. The pre-dessert was probably the best dish of the menu (although one could argue that a pre-dessert shouldn't constitute a standalone course in a set menu) and the main dessert was equally enthralling. We appreciated the pace of the evening and the bilingual service with a staff always keen to help and spend some time detailing each dish. We were less appreciative of the pricing whether that is the set menu, the wines (with champagne glasses trading above £30) or the "filtered" tap water offered at £7. The greatest prejudice of the evening lies in the butter... We had asked for salted butter to accompany the bread served and were offered supermarket-grade unsalted butter with manually-added salt on top. In a nutshell, a compelling yet confusing experience but nonetheless a restful and beautiful evening.

A restaurant at this height displays contempt for its customers, ironically the restaurant is awarded a star by Guide Michelin. We are used to gastronomic restaurants around Paris and other suburban areas, but this has been our worst culinary experience we ever had before, without denigrating the food. However, don't expect Japanese fever on your plate but rather typical french cuisine... When it comes to customer service it's deplorable, dishonest and distasteful - as low it can get. Let me explain. At first, the restaurant mistakenly billed our table with an extra-glass of wine, which was refunded in cash on the spot after we made them notice. When we double-checked the bill, we realized another mistake had crept into the bill - again.  As a matter of fact, we had a check of 119€ of Wonderbox, of which only 69€ were taken into account, overcharging us by 50 euros from the total amount. They said to write them an email the following day - which we did. After countless phone calls, the customer service responded weeks later justifying the overpayment by adding another bill from ANOTHER TABLE and shamelessly refusing to refund the difference !  It's an utter distaste from this type of restaurant - there is no other word. At this point it's unclear if the restaurant is insistingly unable to resolve a situation or has a custom of swindling their clients.  You better watch carefully your note before proceeding payment if you think to welcome yourself in this restaurant.

Dear Sir, After your dinner, which you told us by email that you absolutely appreciated the cuisine and the service, you asked us for details on your bill. The first invoice corresponds to the amount of the wonderbox gift and the second invoice corresponds to the detail of the supplements consumed beyond.Indeed, an error was noted on the first invoice, a glass of wine had been overcharged when it was included in the offer, we immediately refunded the amount in question. There is no dishonest way on our part. We are human, it can happen that we make mistakes and we deeply regret it with our guests because we work hard at each service to ensure that the experience is the best possible. We are sorry about this misunderstanding. We are at your disposal if you want more information Regards, The La Scène Thélème team

At first entering the diningroom, it is a bit startling how bright the lights are coupled with the white walls but then it became a rewarding experience to clearly see the preparation intricacies of several of the dishes. We had chosen the 4-course tasting menu that included pigeon as the meat dish much to the dismay of my husband, however, he was won over by how well-prepared and flavorful the dish was. The timing of dish presentations was well done making this a very enjoyable evening. I would highly recommend La Scene Theleme.
