Went for lunch here and it was nice, service a little slow to begin with, but once our order was taken the food was quick to arrive. We sat outside and watched the world go by at one of their street tables. Worth a visit if you watch to eat typical French food and the pate was great !!!

An amazing experience. We fell upon this lace having wandered around for somewhere with the right feel and a decent vegetarian menu. The restaurant starts things off with a very good ethos. All their food it prepared in their kitchen, and sourced from known sources & passionate suppliers. Each course of our 3 course, vegetarian meal was amazing. I didn't... More

I have been eating at Les Philosophes for a number of years. The menu is constant and has not changed over the years. We usually eat the suggestions for the day. This weeks offerings were again of the usual high standard and perfect for the season. The next door restaurant is La Chaise au Plafond and shares the menu and... More

A quintessential bistro, busy and bustling, very friendly service and some very good food. Between us we had onion soup, a mixed salad, a roquefort and walnut bagette, a ham sandwich and a pichet of Cahors and it was all quite excellent.

We hadn't been to this restaurant for possibly 20 years and last night we went. The onion soup was not really hot and very salty. Our waiter was very nice but he forgot my plat of the grilled lamb. My husband ordered the fillet which not only really a fillet and although cooked medium rare was very tough. We won't... More

In my opinion the best onion soup in Paris! Great place for lunch, dinner or if you just want to sit outside and people watch while enjoying very sophisticated menu for a good price

5 euro for a mediocre cafe au lait , 5.50 for a tea and 3 euro for a croissant without butter or jam was disappointing.

Sorry, Ersmayers, but if you think Les Philosophes is expensive you're in for a rude shock when you visit other places in Paris. It is an expensive city, but at least my staff are paid properly. And when you order a café au lait at my place you get a Mexican organic blend with fresh organic unpasteurized milk. Nothing mediocre... More

I have been to this restaurant several times now and it never disappoints. The friendliest staff in Paris complimented by delicious simple food. I took some visiting friends this time who raved about the whole experience. Menus in English or French (maybe other languages as well) the food is fantastic. My favourite is still the duck - perfectly cooked, but... More

Lively and fun bistro/cafe. Food as excellent. Our waiter was very patient and helpful. His meal and wine suggestions were great. Would highly recommend. Reservations not necessary.

We visited Les Philosophes for dinner, based on the recommendations of some friends. The restaurant is very popular, so reservations are recommended. Menu is large and there are options for a 2-course or 3-course set. There are also daily special dishes. Food is prepared with fresh, locally source ingredients and was delicious. Selection of wine is also diverse and very... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
