We've visited this place several time. It's not a place which is worth you to come from far away, but if you happen to pass it, especially during lunch time, just don't miss it. It's where we'd go when we want nice real Japanese chirashi or sashimi which is reasonably priced (lunch menu chirashi 14 euro).

I visited this restaurant with my family for lunch on weekend and encountered very poor services with unfriendly waitresses. Waited for more than half an hour to come and take order even with only half seated. We were also served in incorrect order that couple of people came later were served earlier which made us pretty uncomfortable. Never visit again.

We both had Chirashi and it was ok. I had the Chirashi superieur for 30 euro while she had the set Chirashi menu for 18 euro which includes a soup and desert. The sashimi were fresh. I find my item a bit pricey and would have expected the soup and desert which were not included.

Matsuda is on of the few real Japanese restaurant in paris, even if the number of real chef is increasing since a couple of years. But Matsuda has been around for quite a while. If you are looking for real Chirashi, Sushi, sashimi or even lunch bento, this is a good pick.

My wife & I just returned from dining at the Matsuda on the eve of our return to Italy. We went early since we fly home tomorrow and thus were the first to be served. I can't eat sushi or sashimi but Alma loves it and had a full platter of fresh sushi that could not have been better. Although... More

My conclusion - you get what you pay for. The prices are cheap considering it was sashimi plus its prime location. Go there only if you are really hungry and can't walk any further.

There are many japanese restaurants in this area of Paris. Most of them are reasonable priced but this one has better quality for the price, perhaps because the place is run by genuine japanese people...? Friendly service, too. Nothing pompous or over the top, just good food for a reasonable price. I will definitely be coming back here.

If you want Japanese food in this area, go to one of the other restaurants on rue St. Roch. The food isn't bad at Matsuda, but the service is horrible. My wife and I ordered essentially the same midday meal, sashimi with rice below. Mine was tuna and hers was (to be) salmon. I was eventually served, but she never... More
