When we are in Paris we always have a coffee in this very cool cafe which is opposite the Marche Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered markets in Paris. Its a great place to while away an hour just people watching . I love just watching the clientele come & go . The decore is fashioned off the old butcher shop... More

We just wanted a coffe and some hot chocolate! But it took ages to order and the waiter was unfriendly and stressed! Bad coffee, okay hot chocolate!

Me and my sister visited cafe Charlot on a Saturday afternoon. As it was quite busy, We have been lucky enough to find a table for two outside very quickly. Service was quite good and staff very friendly. Grooming of the waiters could be better, as their aprons look a bit dirty. I had a wonderful 'plat du jour' with... More

I travel to Paris a lot for work, and have eaten here a few times. It's very well known and is almost always busy, which is perfect for an evening of lively atmosphere. If cool people, decor and people watching is on your list of things to do, then this is the perfect place for you! The food is nice,... More

Warm goats cheese salad was good. Service was friendly. Location good. My course bland and ordinary.

The café is located at the intersection of Rue Chrlot and Rue de Bretagne. Just remember to look at the name; it is in quite small font. It is like the quintessential French café. Had the chicken burger which was both filling and delicious. The service needs a bit of work, though.

A classic spot for breakfast and lunch in Marais. Had the omelette with some coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Tasted great. 7 Euros for the juice is a bit pricey but the taste and the place is great so it's worth it!

I went to Cafe Charlot with friends, on a Sunday morning, to eat a brunch, which was delicious! The service was nice, the brunch is served only at 12h (noon), so don´t try to speak with the waiter before that! Right on the other side of the street is located the Marchè des Enfants Rouges.

We were in the nearby area and feeling hungry. We walked into Fondation Cafe and discovered they only serve coffee and cakes. The friendly staff sent us to rue de Bretagne and suggested we would find something more substantial. We got there and went to Café Charlot. We love the old school Paris Cafe ambience. The Cafe was half full... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
