Travelling around the Loire Valley was wonderful. We found mention of this restaurant in a newspaper article, and we were so charmed to come across such high quality food in a tiny village, so small that they knew where we were staying without having to ask! Beautifully presented, tasty, wonderful service, great ambiance. Highest recommendations.

On a wine tasting trip to the Loire Valley, we chose to dine here and were certainly not disappointed. The food, service and ambience were excellent. I chose the monkfish which was served with mushrooms and prawns and was absolutely divine. My dining companions had various meat dishes after sampling the foie gras starters; and the cheese board and desserts... More

Booked this restaurant well in advance via the telephone based on reviews from this site. The food was well prepared and presented. All members of our party of six were pleased. Foie Gras and Chicken liver terrine starter was excellent. The Monkfish main was good but the faux fillet of beef (sirloin) was over cooked. Wine list was particularly extensive... More

It is located not far from the chateau. We had lunch in its nice garden. The food was good. Excellent service. Good wine list. Reasonably priced.

Large parking in front of the restaurant, about 600 meters from the chateau. Got a table in the garden. Friendly, fast service. Took the menu saveurs with foie gras, delicious rognons and sorbets as choices. Good Azay wine to match the food. Recommended.

Nice to see that the reviews of this charming local establishment were bang on the money. Here's what else I discovered: Food Amazing from start to finish. There is a la carte dining but the various menu options are a no brainer in my mind. The foie gras is heavenly as a starter. The chicken dish my son ordered reminded... More

I stopped in at L'Aigle d'Or two months ago while working on my new Loire book. Despite the rain and flooding all around, I enjoyed a superb, high-end lunch at this fine French eatery. The menu was delightful. The service was excellent. And I loved that it was frequented by locals--who clearly cherish it as local favorite. See my photos... More

We visited this restaurant after reading the great reviews and we weren't disappointed. The set menu was excellent, particularly the melon soup and the chocolate dessert was to die for; one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. The selection of amuse bouches were also delicious and the wine list was great, we had a wonderful half bottle of red... More

This was our 2nd visit (12 months prior) and it was exceptionally enjoyable again - the food was exquisite in flavours, all complementary along with fine presentation. Garden setting was enjoyed with a glass of local fine wine. Equal best dining in France and we have visited widely and annually for 10yrs, selecting recommended dining venues each year. Not an...
