We were dining with two other couples and simply had a fantastic experience. From the amuse bouche to the desserts, every dish was well executed. The beautiful setting was lovely and the service was professional, yet friendly. Our server was quite knowledgeable about the local wines and helped with us make suitable selections to complement our meal. The evening was... More

We had a nice quiet dinner away from the main tourist strip in this lovely town. Food was traditional French with seafood and meats prepared and cooked perfectly. Presentation was excellent and service was warm and friendly. This is not a Michelin starred type of fusion food but real French fare, reasonably priced and without pretentious service

This is a good option for lunch away from the crowds particularly when the restaurants near the Ch. d'Amboise are busy and it is nearby. The midweek formule at euro 17 for two courses (or euro 21 for three courses) and an amuse-bouche is good value for an establishment offering food of this quality. The fish main of dorado came... We had a very traditional French dinner in a beautiful setting. The service was excellent, and we were completely unhurried, enhancing the dining experience.

The food was excellent. Good menu choices. Food well cooked and beautifully presented. Every dish was special. The potential for a great evening. However the restaurant is in two parts. In the large room we were in there were no other diners. Result no atmosphere.

Great ambience and service, come together with spectacular food. We the pork and the spader fish as main dish, both were perfectly cooked and with good mixture of flavors. Definitely worth stopping for dinner.

Our B&B hosts recommended this restaurant to us. We sat in the beautiful main dining room and we had a nice table by the window. The food was delicious, wonder flavors. The service staff were very warm and friendly. The only criticism would be that the young woman who was in charge of the wine service lacked some knowledge. Otherwise,... More

A wide ranging menu including a la carte selections from low 20's to 40's euro. All well prepared and delightfully presented food. Superb service, warm generous hosts and a lovely ambiance make this a fine choice to re-visit many times. A definite go to restaurant in Amboise.

It was okay food but not as good as the reviews on trip advisor. There are better restaurants in Amboise. Service was a little slow the night we ate there.

The cooking and presentation is worthy of a Michelin star. Good thing is that they do not charge Michelin rates. When in France, one should enjoy the great gastronomical cuisine, and there are plenty options at Le Lion D'or ranging from Foie Gras to Sweetbread. Absolutely enjoyable!
