My husband and I were looking for a traditional restaurant in Saint-Malo to eat a Galette de Bretagne. We found the best of both worlds here with the Bergamot.
We arrived right at their busy lunch hours and were politely told they were already filled for reservations but to come back around 2:00 and the possibility of a line. We could tell the restaurant was wonderful so we continued to explore Saint-Malo and wait it out.
Upon our return, the adorable waiter was happy to see we returned so he ushered us inside and sat us at a sofa to wait. We were then seated right away as he placed our belongings into an empty chair at the table and discreetly covered them with a throw.
This restaurant manages to combine traditional Galette ingredients yet prepares them in a modern and fresh approach. What struck me the most is you have this creamy, cheesy Galette interior with these buttery, crispy exterior edges. As I told our gracious waiter, you can eat a Galette anywhere but few will take the extra steps to properly cook the Galette in this manner. Every bite was delicious.
I was able to get a small green salad to accompany it. The salad entrees looked amazing but they are really large. We split a house made dessert, the Tarte Bretonne and it was excellent.
If we ever return to the area, I will most definitely return to this charming restaurant. One of our best meals in France.

We read about this on TA and decided to try it when in St. Malo. While the food was really good and beautifully prepared, we felt as if the staff didn't appreciate our business. There were tables outside, but when we asked, we were told no we could not sit there. Why? Who knows, they didn't explain. We were going to walk away to find another place when they found an open table inside. The entire time we saw those tables outside sit empty. So, mixed feelings about our experience.

We had a gallette that may be unequalled in the world, followed by their signature dessert. We toured the old city while we waited for the lunch time queue to be served and stayed till closing. Well worth the wait! Might have been the best meal of my month-long trip to Europe. A special THANK YOU to the lovely gentleman who returned my cell phone to me at hotel charmettes which had recommended the place. I would have been so lost without it.

Very pleasant atmosphere: comfortable chairs, fairly large tables, jazz music in the background, quite beautiful room.
We drop in quality with the welcome of the staff, courteous but a little special: offbeat humor and a little limited with the customers, forgetting to bring the coffee when it is ordered, forgetting to serve a carafe of water despite two requests, only brings the menu after a good ten minutes of waiting, remarks on the choice of dishes that we make, ... Offbeat attitude, incongruous in such a setting.
Neat and well presented cuisine. Appetizing dishes and undeniable care taken in their preparation. Several downsides, however: the lemonade served was much too acidic (impossible to drink, we didn't finish it), andouillette served with the crepe not cooked enough and in a very small quantity (three slices) but with two good ladles of accompaniment visibly not very well cooked and in any case, hard to digest (sorry for the somewhat scabrous detail). Finally, a dessert of very average quality as well: a (very) thin layer of lemon, a very thin dough and a lot of thick and slightly cloying meringue.
Good point for the organic farm cider, which was very good (3.90 a bowl anyway).
All this after a formal reservation that the restaurant management asked us to confirm twice (!)
In the end, a strange impression: that of having gone to a restaurant which would like to be a great restaurant but which is neither in terms of its cuisine nor its staff.
Impression to be confirmed during a future visit, perhaps it was simply not the right day?

This is a fantastic restaurant and well worth the wait. Though we were told we would have to wait 30 minutes for a table by a lovely, kind, gentleman, we were seated and drinking cider within 20. My wife and I opted for the salmon and honestly it was divine. My son, who is a picky teenager, had an omelette and ate all of it - as usual he left the salad! The travesty. The salad with our salmon was exquisite, the scrambled eggs melted in the mouth. There was silence at our table for a while 5 minutes as we all closed our eyes, and relished in the tastes. The local cider was lovely and the service was courteous. We would have had a dessert but we were simply too full and wept because the desserts looked fantastic. It is rare that you go anywhere, even in Saint Malo, and all the foods that pass your table, you want to try. Though my French is ropey, the staff were kind, attentive and helped me by supplying an English menu.

I had a galette with Camembert bacon and mushrooms and it was delightful. Lovely crispy galette and good balance of filling. My partner had a smoked salmon and scrambled egg salad which he loved. The fig tart was amazing - crisp, not to sweet and fresh fragrant figs. The bonus was a lovely cup of Assam served with cold milk - perfect for this English person! Service and atmosphere was great and it’s located away from the crowds. A great find!

St. Malo truly surprised me with culinary delights, and BERGAMOTE stands out as a shining star! The service was impeccable, creating an elegant ambiance that perfectly complemented the exquisite presentation of the dishes. But it was the Galette that stole the show! Every bite was a symphony of flavors that I'm still savoring. As a parting gift, I couldn't resist bringing home some Mariage Frères Bolero tea to extend the magic of this French culinary journey. Bravo!

I thought this was a delightful place worth a visit in Saint Malo. We tried getting a table for noon, but the restaurant was fully booked. The wonderful host told us, if we're still keen, that they'll start accepting walk-in guests around 2:30. We returned at 2:00 and joined a small queue. We were settled in by 2:15. We ordered several of the savory crepes which we all enjoyed, but our favorite was the one with scallops and mushrooms (St Jacques).

Don't be fooled by lines in the street to other cafes and restaurants - walk around the bend to Bergamote and be seated at an outside table if you can. I recommend the savory scallop galette with mushrooms and greens for lunch - it was such a surprise and so delicious. I ordered a local cider which complemented the dish nicely. Other members of my family were equally pleased with their meals.

Absolutely everything in this establishment deserves to be recognized and highlighted, starting with a very warm and authentic welcome, all the staff are very attentive and friendly, what a feeling of tranquility and well-being in this place.
A menu rich in flavors for tea lovers, very beautiful compositions to discover, then the dishes and desserts, certainly less rich in quantity but so sufficient given the quality of the dishes!
For my part, I tasted THE best salad (Toulouse) that I have ever eaten, garnished as desired and so tasty, a delight for the eyes and the taste buds! And for dessert a Sicilian tart, an indescribable lemon flavor without bitterness and so light despite its generosity.
A very big congratulations to the owner because it is a safe establishment (reservation very strongly recommended), we will be able to recommend it with great pleasure

A very cozy setting to enjoy succulent crepes - we had a great time and the welcome and service were perfect. Savory pancakes between €8 and €18 for the most elaborate fillings (scallops combined with dried duck breast), good value for money. An address that I recommend.

Do you want to spend a pleasant moment of relaxation? Walk through the door of this tea room without hesitation. A fine selection of black, green, flavored or unflavored teas will awaken your taste buds. And what about the pastries, a real treat. The fig tart is as pretty as it is excellent, and what can we say about the scones accompanied by 2 jams, strawberries and oranges and whipped cream, a real treat. All served by staff who listen to customers in a very relaxing atmosphere. A stop is necessary if you pass nearby.

A perfect welcome and service. Despite the customers who flock to this establishment, the manager and the staff are smiling and attentive to the guests. What a pleasure !
The dishes are plentiful, delicious and careful.
We recommend this institution and will return with great pleasure during our next stay in Saint Malo.
Remember to book the day before for lunch between noon and 2:15 p.m. otherwise you can arrive after 2:15 p.m. because the service is continuous from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Great service! We came in only for a crepe and a scone, but appreciated the excellent service the most. The staff were friendly and professional and thought of little details to make our stay more comfortable, from rearranging chairs to give us more comfortable seating and providing a “purse chair.” The food was lovely and we felt like appreciated guests. Thank you!
