Our hotel recommended this restaurant for lunch. We never would have come across it otherwise, nor would we have seen the beautiful St. Croix church which graces the square the restaurant is located on. This was a sophisticated dining experience for a reasonable price. We...had a choice of a fixed menu with fish or a fixed menu with meat and chose one of each. We were both happy. Mine came with a cold fresh pea soup. Never had anything like it, but would happily have it again. Would actually have all of it again! The setting was nice and service was good. There is an emphasis on seasonal fresh produce. Enjoyed the experience. We then walked into town center through an interesting neighborhood.More

We stumbled upon this place on a hot day while exploring the neighbourhood. The setting is lovely, under the trees near the Eglise Ste. Croix, but we sat inside. The restaurant is Michelin recommended and the chef, Hugo Lederer, is well-known, but it was not...expensive or pretentious. I started with with tuna tartare in a cold cucumber soup. The main was unusual - pork cooked in lentil caviar - but very tasty, and the dessert (strawberry sorbet) was excellent.More

Let me start by the saying: the food is great. We loved our meal. We got the butcher's cut meal for two which included a large steak to share (perfectly cooked), thick cut fries (perfectly crispy and salty), a cheese plate and a massive Paris...brest with hazelnut cream. So delicious. So, why only three stars? After a delicious dinner that came out in quick succession with friendly service... the good service abruptly stopped. A big crowd came in and the two waiters AND the chef spent all their time outside with them. They were running in and out frantically and never looked over to see us gesturing to g eat their attention. We were left waiting inside for 20 minutes until my husband got up to ask to pay the bill. He was IGNORED by the waiter after asking to pay several times and then returned to his seat, bewildered. We waited another 20 minutes to pay until the chef came and offered us the bill, the waiters still running about and ignoring us, the only customers inside! It was a bizarre ending to an otherwise lovely dinner. Quite disappointing but, still, that Paris brest was amazing. I never leave reviews, good or bad, but this was just too strange to not report!More

Down a back street and off the city centre, but on the other hand not too far from Gare St Jean, this is a restaurant well worthwhile discovering. Either sitting outside in the square by the church or more comfortably inside, you are made to...feel most welcome. We were uncertain what to expect but the food proved to be magnificent. The pea veloute starter could have graced any Michelin Star menu, while the beef cheek was cooked to perfection. We make several trips to Bordeaux each year, and this will certainly be the first of many visits.More

The service was very good but the food was average to good. We did not care for the squid sauce. The wine was expensive. Overall somewhat over rated and over priced.

Last night in bordeaux and really crave for some meaty dish. Check through trip advisor and found this place. No regrets at all! Friendly service, good wine list and perfect angus beef. Like the ambience too!

Possible to eat outside under an old platane tree facing a medieval church on a quiet square. True romance. The quality of the food is recoqnized by Michelin reviews. Relaxed atmosphere. Staff is highly professional. Prices slightly above average.

Compliments to the chef Hugo LEDERER and to fantastic service from Vanina who was perfect. Had a light breakfast, played bridge with Robert Kyprianou, watched amazing rugby performance by England in Australia, joined 40,000 Irishmen and Belgians in the Bordeaux fanzone, walked 10k and then...had a really tasty supper at Cafe du Téatre. Amuse Bouche Salty creamy yoghurt cucumber with a hint of cheese and chive. Starter Pressed Crab in pea mint broth Perfect salty veg flavour with light crab bits. Entree 1 Tomato powder dusted Cod truffle oil with fennel Spring veg shallots and squid ink. Subtle tomato, delicate cod loaded with strong mix of flavours that work together. Entreee2 72 hour cooked beef cheek in jus on tomato pepper aubergine mix. Rich, tender, sweet and peppery. Cheese from pay de Basque with jam. Soft tangy and nasal. Strawberry Surprise. Sorbet, strawberry meringue and wow sorbet with basil and olive oil. Interesting and worked for me.More
