Rafa's Tapas Bar is a hidden gem. Tucked away in a lane behind Deansgate you wouldn't find it unless you knew where you were going. What we love about this place is its authentic atmosphere and food, you really feel like you're in Spain. The owner, Rafa, is a great host, and although he is 100% español he has lived... More

I read a lot of reviews on here looking for a good tapas/paella restaurant in Manchester before settling on here. It doesn't look much from the outside and the previous reports about hygiene did make me waver, BUT, I'm soooooo pleased I chose it. The husband and I visited early evening on a Friday and we were seated straight away.... More

We had pre booked a table for 5 people for 5.15pm on a Sat, prior to watching a show at the opera house round the corner. Our group was aged between 41 & 62 years old. To start it was difficult to find (we ended up going round the back vis Great John St), but once inside it looked good.... More

Nine of us met there for a reunion. Two families sharing their love of family holidays in Spain. It was perfect. Very accepting of our emotional get together. Excellent food and great wine. An experience I can't wait to repeat. Visited 12.2.2017

I have been to El Rincon at least 5 times now - every time has been great! It has now become a go-to option for me whenever I have friends visiting Manchester and I want to take them somewhere nice! The atmosphere is great - the food is great - the service is great - we love it! I would... More

We love El Rincon - a little bit of Spain in Manchester. Food, drinks & service spot on. Recommend prawns wrapped in bacon, beef filet in brandy/white wine sauce & chicken in paprika sauce. The beer of my choice has to be a cold Alhambra grand reserva 🍻🍻🇪🇸🇪🇸We will be back very soon 👍🏻🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

WOW! The most authentic Tapas experience we have had. Everything was great from start to finish. We were a little apprehensive as if there are 2 of you, you cannot book in advance, but we did not need to be as on arrival on a very busy friday evening we were greeted by very helpful staff. We explained that we... More

I first visited El Rincon about 15 years ago, Keith Floyd was sat at a table enjoying the most authentic tapas in Manchester, how things have changed. I still live the environment and the staff are very good however the food has taken a serious turn for the worse. I wouldn't expect to see chopped up crab sticks in an... More

So many Spanish people dine here that you think you are in Spain and allows you to think it is very authentic. Large selection of tapas and main courses all of which are good including the paella mixta. House wine is very acceptable and reasonably priced. The thing that can catch you out on their website/Facebook page is that although... More

El Rincón de Rafa is Manchester's longest-serving independent Spanish restaurant, having been in the city centre for 22 years. A family run establishment, El Rincón is regularly described as a 'hidden gem' and offers a relaxed, authentic experience, brought to Manchester from Málaga by owner Rafael Cabrera-Vargas. El Rincón offers a large range of tapas and main courses (including paellas) and a fully stocked bar with a huge variety of Spanish beers (both bottles and draught) and wines. The off the beaten track but central location of El Rincón (close to the Hilton hotel - turn down St John's St from Deansgate and take the first right) ensures an unbeatable authentic Spanish atmosphere, but with hidden nooks and crannies for a more intimate feel. The restaurant doesn't accept bookings for two, seating couples at a number of tables on a first come, first served basis. Customers are also welcome to visit just the bar for food and/or drinks. Que aproveche!
