Me and my girlfriend came here for my Birthday. We had starters, mains and a bottle of wine - all for a reasonable price. I had the chicken kebab, which was spectacular and delicious. Chicken was very succulent - often the chicken on these kebabs is dried out. My girlfriend had the pork belly off the specials which was also... More

Although I did it eat here a good food and wine menu. Don't be put off by its outside looks as they are deceptive as you walk into a modern wine bar/bistro feel. Ideal location in town centre conveinient for shops and local sites. Added bonus no TVs or music being played, definitely a place to party have drinks or... More

I've always loved this place; however we recently went vegan, and it has been difficult to enjoy our old favourites like we used to. We visited Toll again after the change, and arranged for one of the existing meals on the menu to be "veganised" - essentially the veggie burger with no cheese or sauce. The staff were very helpful... More

A family get together of 6 adults and 2 children for a birthday celebration. We booked in advance and the table was waiting for us when we arrived. Eight of us ordered something different and it was all served at the same time. Steak done to perfection and there were certainly no complaints from the rest. Finished off with desserts... More

Thanks Steve, I'm glad you had such a great birthday meal us. Sorry about the missing dessert (a bakewell tart I believe), that was completely my fault as I missed it off the check, oops! An honest mistake that I hope didn't detract from the rest of your afternoon? Hopefully we will be welcoming you back soon. Best regards, Joe More

Big group of us for a 50th birthday meal. We took over one are of the pub. There were some real positives. Firstly, for a Saturday night it was busy but not the usual Lancaster crazy busy. Getting served at the bar was fine, the staff were numerous and useful. The problems started when we sat down. The food, as... More

Thanks for the feedback, sorry to hear that there were a couple of issues with your visit. Our main menu is all about simple cooking using fresh ingredients and this is what keeps so many of our regular customers coming back. We do have an ever-changing specials menu as well for those after something a bit different. It's disappointing to... More

We came here for Sunday lunch as a group of six, and were told through a series of shrugs and grunts that the large table was reserved, and that the waitress frankly couldn't be bothered to put two of the six or seven available tables together for us. Within two minutes she successfully lost this place a bill for six... More

Hi there, Thanks for your feedback. Firstly I'm sorry that you have had such a bad experience on this occasion. This is obviously quite a serious issue, so can you please email me the details (time date etc) of your visit so I can look in to this further? I would hope that your review was written in the heat... More

Hi Diana, There was indeed some confusion here, as we had three of your group laying claim to the solitary steak that was on the pre-order. Everyone seemed to have forgotten what they had ordered (this does happen with pre-orders so don't feel bad), which is why we agreed to start from scratch and take a new order. Everyone at... More

A couple of friends who I haven't seen for a while were in town and we decided to treat ourselves to lunch at the recently refurbished Toll House. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, beer was first class and the extensive menu made choosing rather difficult. (But we managed OK!).I shall certainly be back.

Nice place for a beer and a dinner. I liked the fish (crispy beer batter) and chips. The first time had fresh haddock fish. I enjoyed a lot the food.
