Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We wouldn't recommend theWindermere Bendigo. We waited 1 hour for our meal when it arrived it was only just warm the John dory fish coating was soggy & cold it came with just warm dressing 2 tiny potatoes & shrivelled salad .My partners Lamb's Fry...&Bacon was just warm. When we complained the waitress said that the chef would make us meals, we declined as we hadnt time to wait.We would have refused to pay but we had already paid. The dinning room wasn't even half full and they had 3 waitresses serving.More

We go to the Windemere about every two months as a get together of ex workers and have always had fantastic service and food. However, today the experience was quite different. We had to wait over an hour for our meal and then 2 of...the ten people got their meal and were almost finished when the other meals trickled in. Mine was completely cold and I had to take it back. It was then put in the microwave and given back. The reason I was given is that there were a lot of people there today. I booked this a month ago and could've been told that they cannot handle the amount of people that they have seating for. Now, the group does not want to return. Such a shame. It would have been nice for someone to come to us and apologise for the bad service, but no one bothered.More

Saturday Night. An incredible number of covers. But the hard-working chef and his staff don't miss it, presenting way-above-average fare. The Orange and Fig Chicken never fails... a must-try if you are in the area. 😎

My daughter and her partner just moved into a house around the corner and we decided to try out the local pub for dinner. We were extremely pleased at what we found. This hotel had more of a club feel than a hotel. Plenty of...helpful and polite staff to assist you. The menu had plenty to choose from and it also had a seniors section for smaller and cheaper meals. Pokies, keno and TAB are also there for your enjoyment if you wish. We had four main meals, three desserts and all were scrumptious. The only downer for me was and it was a small downer, the coffee was bland and weak for my liking. We will definitely visit every time we are down visiting the family again.More

The restaurant is in a modern part of the hotel and it was well laid out. The staff were friendly and the well presented meals were served promptly. It is obviously a popular restaurant that people revisit since it was obvious that there were many...regular customers who knew the staff..More

Beers somewhat limited, but staff were quite friendly. Not too bad a place to grab a beer. Not too pricey either.

We had booked in a nearby motor inn and this was one of the recommendations of where to eat but advised probably best to book, which we did. I must say, the menu was great and lots of senior meal choices too. We opted for...a specials meal of pasta with mussels but sadly, they were sold out. The food we had was very good and very reasonably priced, so too the drinks. Highly recommend.More

This is the second time we have been here and on both times the service is quick and very friendly The food was very good which is surprising for a pub, found the dessert a little disappointing but the main meal was good value

I've eaten at the Windemere many times, but not under the new management. I won't be back as there has been a very noticeable change in the standard of the food. The former management had an eye on everything and it was rare that during...the course of a meal that someone on the waiting staff did not approach to ask if you were happy with your meal. The staff are still attentive, but not inquiring. The former interest in the customer is not there even though the hotel has been enhanced with updated decor. I was dubious about ordering the roast lamb, but decided to give it a go. It was not even passable. There was variety in the vegetables in as much as they were of temperatures varying from warm, through tepid to cold, and while there was plenty of boiled carrot, there was half a potato, a small piece of pumpkin, ditto broccoli, and a piece of corn on the cob of about 2 centimetres length. The meat, admittedly tender, but to the point of falling apart, bore no resemblance to anything roasted, but seemed to have been steamed under pressure, entirely lacking the succulence of having been in a roasting pan at the correct temperature. The gravy was beige, insipid and completely lacked depth of taste, definitely not what could be made from the drippings of meat cooked at the right temperature in an oven. One of my dining partners, a frugal eater, had left half of his chips and onion rings on his plate and I ate the lot not only from hunger, but to get the unpleasant taste of the incorrectly and badly cooked lamb out of my mouth. I would add that the quality of the wine bought by the glass is now indifferent and can compliment the dining room only on its efficient and pleasant female staff. Contrasting with that was the manner of the male waiter who removed my plate while one of us was still eating. When he asked "Are ya dun with that mate, eh?" I was temped to say, "Not only with the plate, but the hotel too." but that would have been slightly unfair, but a dining room cannot pass on good waitresses alone The standard is nowhere near what it was under the former management, and I had been told that before this last visit. Partly my fault for going, I guess.More
